Bishop Bedwini was the legendary chief bishop of King Arthur’s court at Gelliwig. Can he be identified as a historical figure? In this video, I argue that he can indeed, and that he can be found in the Book of Llandaff.
Check out my book to discover more evidence for the identification of Athrwys ap Meurig and his associates with the figures of the Arthurian legends: www.amberley-b...

Another informative video Caleb, thank you. I was never very good at spelling; must be a Welsh thing....

Can you expand on the Gelliwig that you mentioned and how it is identified with the village you mention, sorry cannot make out the name exactly. Bedwin sands sprung to my mind as well, there must be an interesting story there.

If you just do a Google search for ‘Llanvetherine Gelliwig’, you’ll find some information about it. The Arthurian legends present Gelliwig as being in a territory called Cerniw. This is commonly identified as Cornwall, but there is evidence that there was a region in Gwent called Cerniw as well.

The work of AW & BB put me onto Cerniw back a couple of decades ago, made sense of the name Coedkerniw nr Newport. But your videos put the whole Chronology on a firmer footing making the connections more clear. Thanks @@calebhowells1116

Wasn't Dubricus the Bishop who Crowned Arthur? I hate any theory about Arthur the removes form from the 6th Century. At that point you're not looking for an Historical Arthur but for an alternate explanation for Arthur.

That’s right, Dubricius was the one who crowned him. I agree with you in that regard. I absolutely support placing Arthur firmly in the sixth century. To be clear, my theory is not that Arthur lived in the seventh century. Rather, I believe that the seventh century dates assigned to Athrwys ap Meurig are incorrect. I very recently made a video about this very issue ago, two videos ago. You can find it on my channel.
