Another fine bit of research Caleb. I do love your history lessons. During the time of Brad y Cyllyll Hirion (Night of the Long Knives), one Eldol Earl of Gloucester somehow managed to escape the butchery that terrible day of treachery. A story persists that Eldol found a wooden stake lying on the ground in the melee that day, perhaps a broken chair leg, and he defended himself so bravely with it that it is said he killed seventy of those murderous Saxons before escaping with his life. Clearly two different people, but Gloucester men were obviously an impressive lot in those days.
