What if in the equation, it has a number to the power of x
@MartyBrandl4 жыл бұрын
That would be called an exponential equation. In order to be quadratic the largest exponent has to be 2. 👍

Plsss help me plssss What if there's an x Like this : x 2 Is that an quadratic function????
@mikko68414 жыл бұрын
I really hope he answers
@MartyBrandl4 жыл бұрын
No, x^2 is a quadratic. 2^x would be an exponential function. You could try graphing y = x^2 and y = 2^x on Desmos.com to compare them. I hope that helps! Keep working hard and asking great questions! 👍

what if the differences are -1, -3, +1, +3 would it be quadratic also?
@MartyBrandl3 жыл бұрын
Remember, the second differences need to be constant. So in your example, no. Thanks for asking! 👍

i want u to tell me how to know the answer plz Tell whether the graph of each quadratic function opens upward or downward . y = -3x2 + 5 opens upward opens downward i didnt know whats opens upward and downward mean so can u help me :)
@MartyBrandl3 жыл бұрын
For quadratic equations the graph is always a parabola (U) shape. We can tell if it opens up or down by checking the sign of the coefficient of the x^2 term. In your problem, the coefficient is -3. That means the graph opens down (more like an n shape). If the coefficient is positive, the graph opens up. If it's negative, like your problem, it opens down. I hope that helps! Keep working hard! You can do it! 👍

My friend said that you can determine a quadratic equation in a split second if the equation happens to have a squared exponent. Is that true?
@MartyBrandl4 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you have an equation and the highest exponent is 2, that's true. 👍
