Thank you Eric, I'm a 27 year old man born and raised a jehovah's witness although I never got baptized I was instilled the teaching. When I was 18 years old I left home and left the teachings simply because I felt that it wasn't right for me to listen to another imperfect human being.. I have a family now and wonderful son and newborn daughter. Everyday I've felt selfish.. selfish because I'm not going to the kingdom hall and according to jeahovahs witnesses "saving their lives" I love my family and I want the best for them.. i just wanted the truth. And everything you e explained in your videos shined a light i desperately needed. I'm not alone. The teaching from the bible was correct and I do believe in jehovah. But I will not allow the organization to control me and my family by lying to us saying that what they say is from God. Thank you Eric

Dear Eric, Your god is Yahweh, a Hebrew, tribal god, borrowed from earlier cultures. There is two versions of Yahweh. Your version which describes him as a just, moral, loving, all powerful being, and then there is the Biblical version who is a psychopathic murderer of unborn babies. Both are make believe.

Hi Eric, I have been studying the scriptures with Jehovah's Witnesses for about 27 years. I have a dialogue with them from the 'World Translation of the Holy Scriptures on a scholarly basis. I have had the same dilemma right from the start, I have and I am still giving them the chance to explain certain things that appears confusing, and I cannot bring myself to comfortably accept their version of the truth. After watching your videos I have learnt much, you make a lot of sense and your reasoning confirms my doubts, I thank you for sharing your story and your views. Cheers AL

I just wanted to remind everyone of an important part of the puzzle that is often forgotten by Jehovah's Witnesses and even by former Witnesses, because of their background. Since men were born along by Holy Spirit what God used to inspire the scriptures. This same spirit will help us understand the words of God. John 14:16 and 1 Corinthians 2:10-16. You don't need men to interpret scriptures, you need to allow God's Holy Spirit to assist you. Many times in Watchtower literature and illustrations they leave out the Holy spirit in the chain of communication. I don't want to.

When I read your comment I had to pause the video and make a reply. Please, please. I beg of you to do research about Jehovah’s Witnesses and listen to the many ex Jehovah’s Witnesses life stories on KZbin, and news report. Please read the book by Raymond Franz who was a formal member of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses, it is oh so very helpful and informative, It’s called Crisis of Conscience. The religion seems so innocent and harmless. This is a religion that twist and manipulate the scriptures in order to support their doctrines. After baptism never again will you be allowed to read, study, or research anything remotely associated with religion that was not created by the Jehovah’s Witness organization. You will be viewed as an apostate for doing so because their teachings will stop adding up, then you’ll be naïve enough to think it’s OK to ask questions. You can ask all the questions you want just don’t question the answers you get. Believe what you are told. You individual search for truth will be over. Everything you study will be from their organization (what ever they tell you , you’re expected to believe without question) You will become so brainwashed. If you are only studying at this point you are still in the love bombing faze. The majority of religious organizations today each provide a fair share of biblical truth to the members of their congregation (JW’s are no exceptions), they also provide false hood. I was a part of this organization for over two decades. When I learned that this was not the truth I wrote a disassociation letter, and never look back. You may ask me, Where did you go after leaving the JW’s organization? My answer is quite simple .... Nowhere....Jehovah and his son Jesus, Christ is very much a part of my life. I just walked away from a man-made organization that truly doesn’t have God‘s backing and I’ve never been happier with life. A burden has been lifted off my shoulder and for that I am thankful. Don’t trust anything I say, just use your God given critical thinking skills and do some thorough research. Later in life you will be able to say one of two things: ONE: I dodged a bullet... or TWO: I can’t say I wasn’t warned (some people never get the warning and if they do it after they’re neck deep in JW dysfunctional quicksand). May God guide your steps, the road is narrow

It pains me to read of your experience being an older person caring for a disabled child and having two other children who are physically capable but may not be assisting you with the care of their own sibling b/c they choose to shun their elderly mother. Just goes to show the danger of any religious institution and a person allowing them to have too much control in their life. So brainwashed that one feels that they are carrying on as true christians and love in treating the loved ones this. Well, when the government turns on all religious institutions and servants find themselves with no place to go, you will be in a stronger place spiritually having built your faith w/o the reliance of an institution. In the meantime, I do hope that you are managing well with your son.

I admire your very strong courage in presenting what Truth is all about. As it is written in John 14:6 (KJV), Jesus is the TRUTH and if we seek the truth (Jesus Christ), the truth shall set us free. This the reason the Lord Jesus came down in the flesh to set us free from our sins. It's His blood He poured out, the price He paid to redeem us from all our sins (set free from sins) John 8:32; (KJV). Without shedding of the blood, is no remission, Hebrew 9:32 (KJV) Also, as in John 23 (KJV) "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him".

Your the first person I have listened to that makes sense. I grew up in the truth and have questioned the beliefs my whole life. I grew up and became a grant writer. As a grant writer you are taught how to begin a 501c3 or in other words a church. I noticed one day that there was a certificate pegged to the wall in a Jehovah witnesses kingdom hall library. It was a 501c3 which was a granting of becoming a church. I asked an elder why do we have a filing that says were a church. When the beliefs say we are not a church..yet there it was. Saying plainly that we were a church. I also was taught that a nonprofit committee must have a board of directors who must represent their organization. So to represent our congregation there must be so many people representing the congregation. There must be a woman, a black person, an Asian. Etc. To correctly represent the congregation. I asked a brother why there was all older white men representing our congregation. Their reasoning was that only God knows these seasonings. And that it wasn't my place to question these things cause I was just a woman. That really got me questioning more. I ran a business and had many companies relying on me to assist them with legally filing for them and raising ALOT of money for their companies yet they felt I was not qualified based on my gender to ask these questions. Where is their truth on these simple matters? So I stopped listening to their lies and moved away from the me organization.

Hi Alan, In my case, I just "faded",...stopped attending meetings. Some brothers have felt impelled to write a letter to the Society in which they tell the Society that they are no longer JW's. Others actually keep going to meetings and pretending nothing is wrong,... but these are usually cases in which there is fear that a marriage will end otherwise. I'd been JW from birth, but saw and suffered personally much cruelty from "fellow JW's". Sometimes the "next move" isn't even something that you choose for yourself. Just stopping turning in a time report can catagorize you as having "quit" being a JW!

Thank you for posting this video, Eric. I have to admit that I have never attended a JW meeting but on listening to your first video and then this one I have to admit that my experience is not that dissimilar to yours. Just over four years ago I was disfellowshipped from our local Seventh Day Adventist Church because I took a stand against one of their fundamental doctrines. Like you, I wanted to uphold the truth found in Scripture as opposed to the 28 Fundamental Doctrines of the SDA Church. And because of this, we (our Bible study group) were voted out at a particular Business Meeting dealing with this issue. By this time many in our local SDA friends were questioning the SDA's doctrines, and I have to admit that it did cause a lot of animosity amongst the Elders of the church and members of the congregation. I really enjoyed this video as I too came to many of the conclusions you came to. I look forward to watching more of your videos and taking this journey through the Bible with you.

This morning KJV, modern English was in my mail box. No sign on Amazon that I bought anything, I didn't buy anything.

Very helpful indeed clarifying the meaning of apostasy, a weaponizing word to keep up in fear and stifling our movement to true growth, light and independence. And people should not be afraid to compare bible translations outside of New World Translations.

Hi Eric, I was pleased to stumble up on your account. I have never been JW but I grew up with their literature because they used to visit our home and leave their magazines. I was a voracious reader and of course gradually began to become indoctrinated as a young child. I never did join them though, but from their magazines, I started to see them as the truest of Christians. I had never had any personal dealings with any though. This was to change when I met and interacted with a few. THEY WERE NOTHING LIKE THEIR MAGAZINES PORTRAYED. I once stayed in a room with two JW and a Pentecostal Christian, I was shocked. They were toxic, there was no love in them but the Pentecostal was more Christlike than these supposedly true Christians. That was when the doubts started to creep in. Along the way I met others, and realized something wasn’t right. Now I understand better from your series what the real problem was, they had rejected Christ as their head and replaced him with fallible humans

I like 2 texts from the Bible that clearly show what "apostasy" really is from God's standpoint. One is 2 Thess. 2: 9-12; which actually incriminates the Watchtower organization and it's leaders the governing body. As an ex-JW for 55 years, I believed as we were taught; that only the clergy of Christendom made up the "man of lawlessness". After having been kicked out over the personal opinions of a few brainwashed men 2 years ago, I discovered that the GB of JW's actually fits just as nicely with Paul's inspired description. Their identity is confirmed by several traits; one being "their presence is according to .....every unrighteous deception"......"not accepting the love of the truth." (Evidenced by their constant changes in predictions for the end, changing policy beliefs, treatment of disfellowshipped ones, not reporting pedophilia, joining the UN, "going beyond what is written in elder policies, publisher's conduct, etc.) 1 Cor. 4: 6 Who determines "truth" according to this scripture text? Move on down to 2 Thess. 3: 5, 6, and back to verses 16 and 17 of chapter 2! "The truth would come through our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father."!! (also 2: 13) (John 17: 17---"your word is truth"..meaning Christ's Father Jehovah.) 2nd favorite text on this is Jeremiah 23: 15-21. Jehovah here says thru Jeremiah: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets,.....the vision of their own heart is what they speak, not from the mouth of Jehovah." Just like the governing body has done over the past 70 years or so, verse 21 says, " I did not send the prophets, yet they themselves ran. I did not speak to them, yet they themselves prophesied."!! Well meaning men, but men who had no right to "set themselves up as a God," and demand exclusive devotion to their organization!!! 2 Thess. 2: 4......READ THESE, FOLKS! Thanks Eric!

Thank you so much for sharing ... I know of a few people that I know.. that are involved with JW.org ...one was a retired supervisor ...a young girl that I work with ....and an older cousin of mine ..( my mother's neice .. I have not confronted any of them..I , myself was raised in the Congregational Church since my youth ..many years ago ...but in my early college years ...is when the Lord Jesus Christ removed the scales from eyes and revealed himself to me .... I am now in my early 60's ...it hasn't been easy ...but it is definitely rewarding and reassuring to put my faith in the One True God and the Lord Jesus Christ ....As you get older in Christ Jesus you will find things that will be revealed to you for the betterment of your Eternal Destiny but being an Ex JW .... you will be able to help those that are still decieved ...These are definitely the Last Days before the Lord's Return....and many deceivers are out .. even in Christendom ...So don't be alarmed ....but SEEK GOD ALWAYS ...So much in history testifies to our time period ....the heart of mankind is desperately wicked ...and everything has happened that the Lord said would happen before his return ..... Trust in Christ Jesus .. Always ... the Author and Finisher of our Faith ...

I've seen several of your videos. I am a JW by birth, most of my family members and relatives are JWs, I was disfellowshipped when I was in college, so I can relate, came back around 5 yrs ago, so that was outside the fence for more than 20 years and now an RP. I was hesitant at first with watching videos but I cried to Jehovah and Jesus of course that I don't want to be deceived. I MUST BE SURE ABOUT EVERYTHING. And yes, most of the feelings of whatever you are saying are the same, I am still evaluating how I would treat the GB because some or I should say most of the JWs follow and obey them more than Jesus and that made me research about the faithful and discreet slaves. I wouldn't want to say more right now, but I'll examine more of what you say. Holding my thank you for now. (Philippines)

Greetings of Peace to you, I watched your video and found it interesting. However, I am surprised that you would continue to quote from the JW bible both in this video and others. You have managed to pick up on the fact that it was 'man' that has messed up in the religion, not allowing any line of honest questioning or any thought that may challenge the governing body of JWs decision making or their policies of interpretation of scripture. For myself that would then require that I would take a step, a big step back, and challenge myself and thinking to do with the Bible itself. Questions such as who translated the bible itself, why can I trust this interpretation above others, what made the man or men translating trustworthy, are they above reproach, are they sinless, is it possible there are mistakes in the translation? And a big question to answer, where is the original bible - is it even around now or are we putting our trust in a translation of a translation of a translation. Anyone that knows more than one language should be aware that when you start translating any book, that it will eventually be flawed in some way - the bias of the translator, every translator will translate according to their world views, their background, their personal beliefs and this is somewhat dangerous. Yes, they many say they have been inspired by God, but then again anyone ANYONE can claim they are inspired by God! When you find things in any book that you read that are contradictory and do not logically make sense then you owe it to yourself to keep digging and searching for the truth. Search for a book or scripture in its original form revealed from God then analyze, scrutinize it with sincerity, and the intention of finding the truth (no pun intended). Truth stands out clearly from falsehood. I might end my comment with a suggestion. Something I did a long time ago - One night when you are alone, get on your knees and hold up your hands to the heavens. Clean your heart of any arrogance and aim for humility and make a sincere intention to seek the truth. Ask the Creator (no need to say Jehovah or God or any particular name) Ask the One in whom has absolute control of this universe and everything in it, The one who is the Most Merciful, the Extremely Merciful, The Master of the Day of Judgement, ask for His guidance, to be shown the straight way, the way of whom thou has bestowed thy Grace and whose portion is not wrath. Ask in your own words of course, whatever is in your heart just pour it out to your Creator and He will most definitely answer you and you will be among the successful. I mean we could literally spend our whole lives researching and trying to gain knowledge about what is the correct religion and I feel that if we just ask directly to the Creator then it is a bit of a shortcut to get to the answers. If we die before we find the answers then be assured God knows that you were sincerely looking and I am positive that God being the Most Just, would never let our good actions go to waste or unrewarded.

Abdul, Eric uses the New World Translation Bible because he is especially trying to help people who have been Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. When they see him quoting from the NWT, they relax and their aprehension diminishes. Jehovah's Witnesses are very easily frightened away from these videos, because they have been told by Watchtower that it is a sin to watch them. Using the NWT makes them feel "at home" and safe. Eric Wilson has been helping people in this way for about nine years, though for many of those years he used the alias Meleti Vivlon rather than his real name. You have probably read the comments of appreciation that other KZbin viewers have writen below his videos, and I am one of those people. Have you been benefitted spiritually by what you saw in this video? If so, then leaving a comment here to indicate this would be appropriate.

vintage actually i haven’t had a chance to read anyone else’s comments as yet, i will have a browse after this. Yes i know they are a skittish bunch of people due to their brain washing to believe that listening to any outside source of information is a sin and from Satan. I was actually bought up and baptised in the religion at 15 years old so i am very aware of their tactics. Left long ago and educated myself. Travelled and kept an open mind, looking for answers . It can be very enlightening when we let go of our preconceived notions and begin to really think for ourselves. Yes i certainly admire that gentleman for shedding light and exposing the falsehoods in the religion. It takes courage. 👍🏻 kudos

Hi. I have really been enjoying your videos. I'm wondering if you have considered the idea of reading through the Bible with fresh eyes. What I mean by this is we all have traditions that condition the way we understand what we are reading. You were a Jehovah's Witness for a long time. I would like to challenge you to read through the Bible with no preconceived ideas about God, Jesus, salvation, etc. After reading through the entire Bible, see what you have come to believe about these doctrines.

Eric grateful for an excellent explication and using the scriptures 🎉 congratulations, and allowing others to form their own conclusions, this is not what is done by the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses,a person has to believe exactly what they say if you form or have another opinion a person is classed as an apostate,I listened to a member of the Bible Students who asked me to read for myself Raymond Franz book Crisis of Conscience because he found exactly what I mentioned, and that was brain washing,by the Governing Body,he wanted nothing to do with it,and he was disfellowshipped, after having served as a member of the Governing Body for over 10 years,🎉I enjoyed your discussion 😊

Can you provide some further commentary on Matthew 10:34-37? It's a rather disconcerting scripture, to me. I have firmly believed that the disfellowshipping arrangement of the JWs is unbiblical, but somewhat recently I stumbled upon this scripture, which was also mentioned in your video here at 24:07. If a JW were to bring up that scripture to me in defending the disfellowshipping arrangement, I think I would be at a loss as to how to respond. It does not seem to require any of the typical mental gymnastics (if any) in order to construe it as something that justifies the shunning of one's own kin, when done "for Christ" or "for Jehovah." I think the part of this scripture that makes me the most uncomfortable is that anyone who loves their father or mother more than the Christ is not worthy of the Christ.
@vintage63462 жыл бұрын
I went back and listened to that part of the video, Tony, so I could see for sure what you are asking about. I know that you are asking Eric, not me, but while I have this on my mind, I'll go ahead and comment on it. I don't know how much success that you would have convincing a dyed-in-the-wool JW of this explanation, but here's how I'm understanding Eric's explanation... In these verses, it seems to be the non-christian person who makes himself or herself the enemy of the Christian, and not the other way around. So, if these verses have anything to do with a "shunning" or of a "rejection", it is not the Christian doing the shunning, but rather the non-christian family member toward the Christian. Let's read Matthew 10:34-37: "34 Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ 37 Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me; 38 and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." Take a look (above) at verses 21-22 of Matthew 10: 21 "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rise against their parents and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by everyone because of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved." In Matthew 10:21-22, the Christian would not be the "betrayer", but rather the "betrayee". It seems to me that in verse 35, in the same fashion, Jesus is speaking of a (non-christian) man being against his (Christian) father. If I'm seeing this correctly, then JW's using these verses in support of Christians shunning non-christian or apostate family members is a misapplication of these verses. Verses 37-39, then, would be talking about a Christian not letting their "opposing" family members keep them from following Christ. How blessed are those Christians whose entire family loves Jesus, but many don't have this support.

I'm glad you found Eric. Of course, it's not like he's hiding. Lol. I found him two years ago. I'd just finished reading both of Ray Franz' books, Crisis of Conscience, and In Search of Christian Freedom. After I finished those, I was out from under the smothering fallacy that the "Governing Body" were God's channel of communication between us and himself. But there were still many gaps to fill in. I went on the internet with the intention of finding others who saw this, too. After watching some rather sad and bitter videos (with vile language) made by some exjws, Wow!, I found Eric. I've learned a lot in two years, and without "binge watching". I have to think about things and take time to see how any new concept fits with the rest of "reality".

I'm LDS, not a JW... nor do I want to be one... My church defines apostasy as standing away from God. Most members I know consider us apostate if we don't follow what our Prophet says 100% as if his word is infallible; or if we disagree with what the Q15 considers rules...
