Identity Crisis: How Gender Ideology Took Away a Mother From Her Daughter for Three Years

A Chicago court prohibited a mother from seeing her daughter for three years. All because that mother insisted that her daughter is a girl.
Finally ready to tell her story, Jeannette is warning parents that gender ideology has become the latest weapon in parental custody battles, severing one of the most fundamental bonds in life under the guise of protecting children.

They will leave children in the custody of mothers who are drug addicts and give their child to men for drugs, but omg don’t “misgender” a kid. If this mom sees this, I am so sorry. The pain of this grief is real. I hope she finds her way back to you.

This is truly heartbreaking. Continue to pour your love into your letters. The impact will be felt by your daughter and when she is older, you will see the fruits. You are such an example of what true motherhood is all about..sacrifice, but not at the altar of UNTRUTH. As a former social worker who has witnessed true abuse and neglect of children, I am appalled at a legal system that would allow this. I think the outcome was predetermined before any interview or home study. Please know many people are praying for you and for Sophia. God bless!

I am a 58 year old woman who was recently diagnosed with autism. As a child, I was 100% a tomboy. I am pretty sure if I was a kid today, there's a very good chance this could have happened to me. If you asked me if I wanted to be a boy, I would have said YES! YES! YES! I went through that phase of hating my body as well. You get older, your body grows, your hormones do their job and you learn to accept yourself. I have been married for 35 years and have 4 kids. I don't understand why the first course of treatment is to PERMANENTLY change/disfigure a CHILD'S body!!!! I am honestly shocked at how many of these stories are out there. I still am a tomboy, but I am a woman - 100% and being a mom is one of the most amazing and wonderful things.

They said the group that pushes these surgeries/mutilations on children are the people who own the hormone drugs. Trust me, those people are making money from you, they don’t care about you as a person or your outcome on changing sex, they only need to earn more dollars to maintain their lifestyles.

It's important to teach kids the importance of waiting and giving it time before making any drastic life altering decision. Give them time and space to explore more their identity and feelings, and develop their thought processes more fully, before setting down permanently on one. In 90% of cases, feelings of gender dysphoria usually clear up by the time they reach adulthood. When they reach 18 and still experience gender dysphoria, that would be a good legal age to consider a transition, as they are then an adult that can weigh it up, do their due diligence, and decide for themselves if it's right for them. The worst outcome is that they are forced or coerced into transition surgically at age 12 or younger, have their genitilia removed, and regret the whole thing once they reach 18. I think it is important to hear the voices of those who regret having it done and also choose to ex-transition, as we also get to hear both sides of the issue.

I think the Mum seems very down to earth and also agree that because she doesn't seem like a girly type of woman that she would be open to her daughter dressing more masculine and doing boy activities. I had gender dysphoria as a kid and my mum was so feminine so I only ever had one toy I wanted (it was a Transformer toy I found) and she would have died before letting me wear anything not beautiful and feminine (she had been involved in modelling). Meanwhile I wanted to be a boy. This Mum seems super cool, would have been great to have had her as a Mum. BTW- I still turned out fine and happy regardless! I dressed in my dad's clothing when they weren't looking. Gender dysphoria gradually went away around 14 or so. Think many of us Tomboys may have been like this. Maybe someone should try to survey people who were Tomboys and feminine boys back decades ago and see how many are glad they weren't allowed to change genders as a kid.
@edel3585

@emmy this is what scares me. The movement in government and medical field does not encourage kids to just wait it out and work towards acceptance of their bodies, they want them to take hormones or puberty blockers as soon as gender dysphoria is diagnosed. In california they will soon be able to give meds to a child without parental knowledge. I see a huge incentive for big pharma to be behind all this, just like they pushed the governments around the world to mandate covid jab. Awful.

This is heartbreaking and terrifying. This mum seems like such a good mum, the words she says and how she describes her actions as a parent. Things like “sit w her during her discomfort” and “my daughter is on a boat at sea in peril, struggling….I’m not supposed to follow her lead, to hitch my boat to hers….I’m supposed to be a lighthouse guiding her way” are so beautiful, eloquent and the perfect description of what parenting is! I mean, sheesh, we all wish for and could use a parent as amazing as this mum and many of us were not so lucky. Yet, the state has deemed she’s dangerous and unfit and has taken her daughter from her?!? Wtf, this makes no damn sense!! NONE!! There’s going to be hell to pay in the coming years and decades for everything that has been going on now, has been allowed to happen, supported and cheered on! Heads are going to roll and all involved will be held responsible! I hope that this mum is able to go after the father, stepmother, the state and everyone else involved in this w the full force of the law, sue the ish out of these ppl and throw the book at them! I hope ppl are jailed for everything they’ve done and the role they’ve played in all this dangerous nonsense and that they have everything taken from them! History is not going to document and remember this time and all those involved very kindly. *They will be documented for all of time as the actual baddies!* They keep saying they are “on the right side of history”, but it’s the *exact opposite* and they’ll have to live the rest of their lives knowing just how wrong they were, how much they effed up and that they’re the *villains* after all!

I remember how much it changed me, a child into an angry and spiteful teen. If I did the things I thought I wanted for myself, I’d probably not be here. During puberty and adolescence is the most fragile and dangerous time. I would liken it to a ‘hormone psychosis’ and a medical procedure should NEVER be preformed while experiencing this. It’s awful that other adults think this is what children/adolescents want. Your thinking changes in 5-10 years after puberty! I never believed it until my now 30’s with a daughter. You absolutely did the right thing as your daughters mother. In Australia, we too had a case where a child was removed from their parents because the parents wouldn't call the child he as the daughter requested. Sadly, under the current Labor government (Albanese), they passed a law stating that children can be removed from their parents if their parents don't follow through with the confusion. I've previously worked in child mental health and seeing how quickly children change their minds on what sex they would like to be is just mind blowing. Instead of offering ongoing counselling, instead they offer to chop off the child's breast, castrate the child etc. Your daughter will realise one day and come back. Remember, the frontal cortex of the brain fully develops between 21 and 25 - the frontal cortex is the part that deals with logic and reasoning.

I feel your pain. I'm a 57 year old Yaya to my granddaughter, whom I raised with my husband and daughter until she was 5 then she was abruptly taken away by my daughter it has been almost 5 years. My daughter was pregnant at 17 and we loved and supported her and her husband ( they eloped after she turned 18) we coparented our granddaughter and had a great time doing this, our granddaughter loves my husband and I so much and was very attached to us. We supported our daughter and her husband emotionally and financially without any guilt put on them, we 'wanted' to do everything we did for them/ her. Our daughter eventually divorced, we supported her and helped her through this as best we could. Our granddaughter spent most of her time with me or me and my husband and we were totally cool with that, she was our daughter in our hearts. Our daughter never had any issue with this, we respected our daughter as her mom and we all just co-parented, never any issues. However, when our granddaughter was 4 1/2 our daughter started acting strange, she became combative and aggressive seemingly overnight... as if someone was coaching or directing her to do this. She became overbearing and aggressive toward her daughter as well. My husband and I tried to lovingly talk with her privately about this but she became hateful toward us. We were very disoriented and confused on what to do. Within 6 months she broke it off with her live in boyfriend of 2.5 years and moved in with a woman. Our daughter forbid her daughter to even say his name. This was extremely traumatic for our granddaughter, she sobbed in my arms a few times over him and begged me not to tell her mom or the other woman 🥺, the heartache my granddaughter endured was horrific! Then our daughter cut off her best friend who had 2 kids that were my granddaughter's best friends...same thing, she was forbidden to mention them or cry about it! We comforted our granddaughter and prayed our daughter would come to her senses. Our daughter gained about 50lbs, cut off all her hair and started dressing like a slobby old man. We watched this happen but because of her angry attitude we did not dare try to talk with her again, we just loved and supported her. To back up a bit, our daughter had been the complete opposite before her radical change, she even instructed me to put more attention into my hair/wear makeup/change my wardrobe to be more fashionable etc... and had been annoyed with me on a few occasions because "I had not dressed up my granddaughter or done her hair properly before taking her out of the house". The abrupt change in our daughter was very hard to navigate because we did not know what to expect and so we walked on egg shells continually around her. She started making demands that we put our granddaughter in her room after we picked her up from day care and leave her there till dinner, then she could come out to eat dinner, and then we had to put her to bed with no stories or playtime! And another was that our granddaughter was not allowed to have ANY carbohydrates! No fruit, no whole grain toast, no rice or potatoes! I gently gave push back, I tried to make my daughter chuckle about how silly that was as she used to be able to lighten up and laugh at herself...but that did not go well. Our granddaughter was not only thin but very sweet... there was no reason for any punishment or food restriction ( not that there ever should be, children should be loved and admonished maybe disciplined but not punished and certainly not on the Atkins diet!). About a year after our daughter became aggressive, she cut us off completely, she had already cut off her best friend whose children were our granddaughters friends and then shortly after that she cut off our other daughter, her sister and brother in law, then my parents, and all of her friends. My husband and I did all we could to try and keep contact with her to try to make ammends but its been almost 5 years. The woman she is with is truly sociopathic, she and her whole family have made up crazy lies about us. I feel like I'm living in a horror movie version of the Twighlight Zone. I can't even begin to describe the pain and grief. We were told that our granddaughter suffered severe trauma from a source that we met later who knows my daughter. Others have come forward and confirmed this. Also confirmations that the woman she is with is controlling, manipulative and a pathological liar. We never got to know her and there was no reason those who told us would have had to make that up, some of those people were not even friends of ours, just acquaintances.

The truest form of love is expressed from compassion and understanding. The strength and conviction to save her child’s life is so commendable. It’s just so hard to believe this is the 21st century. As parents we face so many fears (perceived or real) imagine adding this made up 🌈 community to the bucket list.

I lost my daughter to a cult-like group for over 2 years. It was the hardest thing I have ever endured. God gave me strength, though some days I would cry for 2 hours at a time and there were days I didn't want to go on. We had been quite close and I never imagined this would happen to me. My son joined her in the group for about 3 months before he saw the light and came home. A few months after that, he was cut out of her life, too. The transgender ideology is like a cult in that it encourages kids to separate from families who disagree. I feel this woman's pain and pray that Sophia realizes what a loving, wise mother she has. Shame on the system that has supported this alienation.

It’s sad that an entity can tell you that you cannot be a parent and a judge will uphold that decision. The same thing happened to me, different circumstances though. This country is disgusting! Our children are not even ours, they’re the governments. We have a constitutional right to be a parent but that can be taken away because of feelings. A group of people can feel that you are unfit and that apparently makes it so. My daughter now thinks she’s a boy named Oliver. I don’t have access to her either. People in her life enable the delusion and there isn’t anything I can do.

A few things going on here, what screams the loudest to me is that her daughter is being used as a weapon by her dad, against her mum, and he’s using her delusion of not being a girl to her detriment. One can only hope that her daughter hasn’t started puberty blockers, hormone treatments and evasive surgery. There’s no way back physically once medical treatment is started. My heart goes out to her mum. She is 100% correct in all of her statements in this video. She is a loving, caring mother who is doing right by her daughter. Her daughter will return to her one day. ❤

I support this mother and she is totally correct when she states that she didn't want to support her daughter's "illness", because that is what it is... in telling her that she wasn't female! I would like to ask why this mom wears her hair, and dresses to look the part of a guy? That to me, would be very confusing to a young girl growing up being raised by this single mom. Her peers would "most likely" ask this girl repeatedly if her mom is either gay or a transgender person? THAT could be very emotionally hard for her daughter to deal with. Not trying to be condemning to this struggling mom, but I don't understand why you would go this far with a haircut to LOOK like a man? But... I don't understand why anybody would want a tattoo either! LOL

😢 my heart breaks for the child and her mother. How is the system breaking up families? The real question is what kind of a system is this? that it can have soo much invasive power that it comes in the homes and separate a child from their parent due to an ideology. These kids are told explicitely and repeatedly by social media groomers to break contact with the parents though. They are told that 'your parents are bad if they do not affirm you' and so on. Of course, being a child with a childs brain, they easily fall for this lie, like all the other lies they are being told, like 'you can turn into a boy if you're a girl and visa versa' and 'transitioning will make you happy'. Gender ideology is the new anorexia and cutting. Both were prevalent in previous generations and are recognized as social contagions present in female adolescents. And society fought hard to end those contagions. We have specialized programs and PSAs were everywhere. There were Lifetime movies and HBO and Nickelodeon programs that addressed them. But now, we are encouraging this newest social contagion which goes farther than any of the previous ones. This period in history will be looked back on as a dark age. An age where deviations from the socially constructed gender roles were punished by drugging and mutilating children.

Some adults have difficulty with the concept of teaching kids the art of patience... the concept that waiting until the age of 18 is important before making any massive drastic life altering decision, as with things like drinking, smoking, having sex, driving, and all these other things that used to remain strictly in the adult realm. When Biden said "affirming your child's gender is the greatest gift" it almost sounded like "giving your child drugs / allowing your child to have sex is the greatest gift" it is truly face contorting.
