You know, it’s interesting you say this as my father growing up now that I think of it always had one hell of a time with a computer and with dealing with the quote on quote so called “computer guys” always used to get frustrated with the Indians on the phone who’s constantly charge him for things, as a kid I unfortunately was blamed a lot of the time as I played games on his computer as a kid, so they’d have my father fooled it was a virus and my dad figured me being young and dumb opened a bad page and got a virus to his work desktop.. Now looking back I remember being blamed so often for this that I completely lost privileges of going on his computer.. wasnt until these issues persisted long after i had stopped using it that he realized something was up. Looking back it was very easy for them to play onto the fact that it was just a young unsuspecting kid who pulled up a bad web page and got a virus while on the computer.

My great-aunt got scammed out of several thousand pounds a few years ago... I don't know which scam it was, but luckily, she mentioned it to several family members just a few hours later and they got down to the bank that day. Unfortunately, it wasn't a big enough amount that the bank flagged it as suspicious and she ended up losing the money :( Disgusting people. Thankfully, she doesn't/didn't have too many outgoing expenses so it didn't hurt her financially (ie she didn't have to borrow money off of people/companies to pay for other things), and she was helped by her family so that it doesn't happen again.

@towelcritic98914 жыл бұрын
@ninuxy The man literally never complained about a millennial once in his comment, Why the hell are you so primed to attack the old that you come frothing at the mouth the moment someone utters the word "senior citizen"? He just thanked jim for helping teach people around his age about scammers and technology and you come in like "Hurr durr old dumb bc they didn't learn computers that I grew up with and have an intuitive knowledge of" Okay pal, Get an instrument you've never played before, then bang me out a fucking master tune with help from a guy that plays it giving you a few quick pointers. After all age/lack of exposure isn't an excuse to be a fucking idiot, right? Literacy with computers and digital tehcnology is a whole new ball game to people who havent been exposed to it nearly their entire life. You have a narrow-minded view, an utterly horrid grasp on generational differences and what the vast majority of senior citizens are actually like, and lastly and possibly most importantly you are the exact person you claim to hate, You literally blame shit on the "other" generation as "payback" when the people you're "paying back" would say the literal exact same thing about you. To them they are getting "payback" on the "millenials" you are what you hate, how do you feel? The funniest part about this is that when boomers come a raging id be right there by your side but jesus fucking christ man all the guy said was thanks and you outright attacked the poor guy. he EVEN specified "trusting individuals" at the end, NOT JUST other senior citizens, which could be anyone of any age or creed, but Nooooo you were so hyped up on your hating people over the age of 50 juice that you still had to take a fucking potshot, Jesus dude grow up.

"Believe me" is a pretty good giveaway. If they were honest, there would be no reason to say that. "I'm telling you" is a technique to avoid cognitive dissonance on the end of the scammer. When they start a phrase with "I'm telling you" the statement will be true no matter what follows, as they are in fact telling you whatever their lie is.

FlymanMS he still sounds ridiculous. "Please be handy with a pen and paper." There were other examples as well. I don't understand where these specifically Indian-English colloquialisms come from (as someone who is half Indian), but they are annoying as fuck. Any English speaking Indians I know around my age or my parents age speak English perfectly normally, but people of my grandparents generation tend to speak like your classic Indian tech support. I truly am at a loss as to where these people learn English like this, but it is infuriating to listen to... Also it doesn't help that this asshole is constantly repeating himself loudly as if he's talking over the poor woman...I would strangle him if he did this to me -_-

@@Nico97fr Sadly this is very true in many case. People can go through a legal process to prevent someone elderly or otherwise unable to manage their account from having control of it. Problem is someone still has to manage it and not everyone has someone they can trust. I also feel like passing a class to use online banking, rather than courtroom filing after someone incapable is given an account, would be more appropriate. Certain parameters are red flags and some scared kids with their first monetary accounts can make mistakes too. Fake holding a computer for ransom may work well on any child old enough to not just unplug the device and pretend they were not using it behind their parents back. A child swiping a card to pay for a video game or a teen afraid after porn are good examples of this scenario, especially paid porn on a device their parents own.

Illegal immigrants in the US disagree. A stolen SSN makes it easier for them to find employment. You get a rude surprise from the IRS eventually, though, since they've filed a W2 with your name and SSN and claimed all the exemptions needed to avoid having taxes withheld and often will file fraudulent documents (again, with your ID on them) to get a fat "refund" check.

I mean, they might out of reflex. However they would try to avoid it, this guy on the other hands draws his shock out, which is really unbelievable.
