I found Question #6 to be a bit off. To “cut corners” does not really mean to do things in the least expensive way possible, which was the best of the options offered. Rather there is an inference that safety measures (usually) would be bypassed/ignored in an effort to complete the project on or ahead of time….
@myself1525

@Robert S: You are 100% correct: #6 was WAYYY off the actual meaning.

I dont think safety measures were inferred at all. Getting to a result in a manner that used less than complete adherence to normal measures.

Well I got all correct.I am a teacher for 46 years.We had to learn the Queen’s English in the 60’s because we were ruled by England at that time .At an early age of 9years I had to learn very high English Day and night cramming and remembering parts of speech Odom’s , subject and verb agreement and many more too numerous to mention so I have a thorough knowledge of English Language.I’ve taught English to children who never knew to speak it and very short while they could have spoken this language.These questions are like tea for me.

Ismay Ramudith -- English is my third language, which I learned many years ago in Western Europe. Nowadays, English is the language I use every day. As an ESL teacher, I had the privilege of teaching adults who didn't speak a word of English. It was the most rewarding experience of my professional life. I really enjoy the tests/quizzes on this wonderful channel: there's a grammatical purity to them, a clear focus, and a genuinely warm interaction between a diverse audience and the obviously educated content provider.

The answer given in #6, least expensive, is actually WRONG. Cutting corners does not necessarily mean 'least expensive'. It DOES mean doing something without taking adequate precautions OR doing something as quickly as possible without following all procedures. #8 At a premium does not mean 'difficult to get'. It means 'not many are available'.
@TheInkPitOx

Well, rarity does lead to shortages. I was thinking expensive at first. Cutting corners to me means doing something the easiest possible way, not necessarily the cheapest.

You are correct it can be a very confusing language. I lived in Istanbul for a time and met several waiters who spoke several languages. Some said they had tried English but given it up as too difficult! With words and phrases like entrance, blow up, spell, etc l see what they meant. It is part of what makes the language of The Bard, William Shakespeare so great.

Ten out of ten!! Although #6 answer isn't exactly correct, but it was best answer there. To "cut corners" can also mean to use cheap equipment that can be faulty, and doing so can sometimes be illegal. But a funny thing. Three or four times today I used the phrase "once in a blue moon"! I rarely use it, but did so today! Just thought I'd mention it as it struck me as kinda funny!

I'm a sesquipedalian ... so these were easy. But the last one would be a bit disrespectful if said by a son regarding his father's passing.

Really? I’m 70 years old and it has always meant to die. I believe it comes from the Bible, even, when Jesus finally expires on the cross.
