Idiot turning from wrong lane at a red light is flashed by a red light camera. Hope the 20 seconds gained was worth the incoming fine.

we have it all over australia like this. stupid design for sure. Funny is they will then put pedestrian crossing light for left you end up waiting and killing the time for ones who want to go straight too.

It's just to help ease traffic. Otherwise you'd have to sit there for the whole red. The arrow lets some cars through if they are not blocked who would otherwise have had to wait at the red

Chances are, that fine got thrown out. The time the 2nd flash went off, the offender was just about out of frame, so unless that first image got his plate clear as day, it's thrown

The silver car is fully entitled to be, and is doing nothing wrong to be in the left lane as noted by the arrows on the ground. Who knows, the car may need to turn left soon after the lights. The person in the car turning left from the right lane is self entitled who appears to think he doesn't need to wait in line like the rest of us.

i doubt they got a fine - its an old wet film camera - it probably didnt have a film in it - i would assume they would flash with or without a film anyway

i think the camera thought he was going straight and then made flash as he was in the straight line. generally its a bit complicated situation. i dont believe he deserved a penalty. other thing is the junction is not designed properly. the left line should only be used for turning left and the right lane only for going straight. if it was designed like this, it wouldnt had happened.

It makes no sense that both lanes allow for going straight when there is a traffic light for turning left. What happens is that the car in front blocks our camera from turning left, even though the green arrow allows it. Really dumb design.

Both lanes go straight because there are two lanes on the other side, and you can optionally turn from the left lane. This is how every single intersection works if there's no dedicated turn lane. It's exactly the same for turning right too.

Yes, the camera triggers. But because a long vehicle has the right to do that, assuming that weight limits don't apply to the road, the fine won't be issued as the camera will show the truck complying with the law.

Watch the back of the silver car. The flash goes off twice. Once at 0:23:10 (10th frame after 23 seconds) and once at 0:24:10

It's in Australia. The right lane only has a straight arrow, so that car is not allowed to turn left from that lane, and should've waited in the left lane queue like everyone else.

@@untitled6391 No, because it isn't always clear to turn left. Oncoming traffic has to have a red for you to get a green turn arrow because they could be turning right. As you can see in this video. Cross traffic has green, oncoming traffic has red, so the green left arrow comes on.

Because this is a really badly designed intersection. The left lane is not a "turning only lane", which it should be, but rather *_both_* lanes are allowed for going straight. Which makes no sense when there is a traffic light for turning left.
