This song legitimately scares me, but not because of the lyrics. It's because when I first listened to kid a I sugar crashed halfway through, when I later woke up feeling like shit, this song was playing. I love it.

something similar happened with me when I first listened to "Animals" by Pink Floyd and I was half-asleep, ALL paranoid when "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" came on. One of the greatest and most terrifying music experiences of my life.

I literally had a panic attack when I woke up in the middle of the night back in 2012 when I first heard Idioteque. This was playing in my head. Since then, it has been haunting me (and, boy, do I love it, it is ethereally beautiful)

unrelated to the lyrics but this song is quite an eye opener for me, i used to despise electronic music thinking it was just some ''happy go lucky party computer non human happiness music'' kinda nonsense bc thats the kind of electronic music i was exposed too i mean at the time i was heavily into rock music, but then i found myself listening to radiohead more and more and now with me being familiar with their signature ''melancholic paranoia'' kinda thing i decided to listen to it... imagine my surprise... this is an electronic song but its not that ''happy go lucky party computer happiness music'', it has that human melancholia paranoia that i was very familiar with especially with radiohead...

You could take "here I'm allowed everything all of the time" as a sort of commentary on the twisted image of rugged independence that the archetypal 'doomsday prepper' associates with the apocalypse

I always heard "we're not scaremongering" as "we're not scared among the rest." It makes for a vastly different narrative for the song I think. Standing up in the middle of the apocalypse, terrified out of your mind among chaos and war, and trying to be brave. Whereas the original plays into the previous themes of "OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE"

What up with the muffled audio in the beginning

@@RodMigz08 imo just made up for a cool transition with the song in the background appearing with his voice getting back to normal all of us sudden. Similiar stuff happening in the end. As if he took fade in, fade out very seriously. I think it's cool what he did there tbh
