'Idle Eyes' was an underappreciated band...memories of 1980's

some of my earliest memories was sitting on my dads lap while he blasted this song on his computer. it’s times like those where it doesn’t seem like much in the moment, but those are some of the few good memories i had with him. i grew a part from him during my adolescence because of his poor coping mechanisms. when i grew older and had time to process things that happened in the passed, i began to forgive him and wanted to fix our father daughter relationship; that’s all i wanted for the longest time, to be daddy’s little girl again. unfortunately, he passed away in march due to a heart attack. i have so much guilt built up now. i wish i could have been a better daughter towards him. 2 years ago though, i went to his house after school without my mom knowing. he was telling me how much he cared for me, and started crying. that was the first time i ever saw him cry and in that moment, i knew he really did love me. after so many years of thinking he hated me, i’m very grateful i got to have that moment with him. ik he tried his best to be the best dad he could be, which i’ll forever be grateful for. rest in peace papa, you had really good music taste

Our Band opened for Idle Eyes in Grande Prairie years ago when they first broke this song Tokyo Rose and I’ve got to say they were really nice group of guys. Not only to us but to the hotel staff and servers just all round good Canadian gents. So I was about 19 or 20 and the lead guitar player in our band, and I noticed the guitar player had a Roland Jazz 120 amp for clean tone and I believe either a Vox or Marshall for his overdriven tone. I also had the Jazz 120 but had not had luck hooking it up to my Marshall head so that it would seamlessly mesh instead of “POP” Buzzzzzz then play lol, so I was talking to him about it and he simply said here let’s go up onstage and I’ll show you how myself and a tech did it …and I went up and he did just that , really helped me out and didn’t treat me as a lesser player. I was so impressed with him for that act of kindness and never forgot it. Later on we had bands open for us and I got the chance to repay that favor. The singer was pretty shy and loved the hot tub at the hotel so didn’t see much of him but the rest of the band and crew were good dudes all round. I’ll bet someone reading this has one experience like this and still remembers it. The lesson “Be kind, it only takes a minute to help another and make them feel important and special and those memories last a lifetime” I bought all their albums they were a great band with great tone and impressive lights too. Lyrically I thought their songs were well written ,produced, and engineered. I should look them up and see what happened after that original hit for them. Park

Tokyo Rose (alternative spelling Tokio Rose) was a name given by Allied troops in the South Pacific during World War II to all female English-speaking radio broadcasters of Japanese propaganda.[1] The programs were broadcast in the South Pacific and North America to demoralize Allied troops abroad and their families at home by emphasizing troops' wartime difficulties and military losses.[1][2] Several female broadcasters operated under different aliases and in different cities throughout the Empire, including Tokyo, Manila, and Shanghai.[3] The name "Tokyo Rose" was never actually used by any Japanese broadcaster,[2][4] but it first appeared in U.S. newspapers in the context of these radio programs in 1943. Legend says at one time she told the people of Hiroshima that they had nothing to worry about while the bomb dropped.

By using slang, idiom, and doublespeak, Tokyo Rose would motivate Americans but make the Japanese captors believe that she was trying to demotivating them. The soldiers loved listening to her.

I grew up listening to this music, Tokyo Rose was one of the first bass lines I ever learned (after picking out the guitar part of course), back when you had to re-tune your instrument to your 'getto blaster' as tapes tended to play at slightly different speeds. This video is why I got a yellow strat with white pick- guard too. This is one of my many favorite tunes still to this day. Excellent song, and yes Phil, great drum track!

Where are you? What are you waiting for? This is not a race Are you trying to spend my time, spend time You in the corner, come closer I can see your face I can see it in mine Oh I see it in mine You tell a story like Tokyo Rose I got the picture from the stains on your clothes Didn't they tell you 'bout the shape I'm in? In this condition of carnal sin Confuse me, try to talk Like those stains on the sidewalk It's what she said, gets in my head The sun's up, you wake up That beauty at the bus stop Turns my head, go back to bed You tell a story like Tokyo Rose I got the picture from the stains on your clothes Didn't they tell you 'bout the shape I'm in? In this condition of carnal sin We'll be alright, we'll be alright We'll be alright, we'll be alright I tried to warn you I tried to warn you We'll be alright, alright You tell a story like Tokyo Rose I got the picture from the stains on your clothes Didn't they tell you 'bout the shape I'm in? In this condition of carnal sin You tell a story like Tokyo Rose I got the picture from the stains on your clothes Didn't they tell you 'bout the shape I'm in?
