My brother was a DJ and he could lip sync to anything... he looked like the lead singer here and it was 1990 when he died. This was on the radio and he harmonized as I drove him to his cancer treatment. I'll never forget his voice... he was 31. So its bittersweet every time I hear it. Happy tears now.

+Annie Young - Hey No Worries about feeling a connection to music and your brother! I was in Brampton, ON learning to live without much of a family or even true friends for that matter. I guess the only that really mattered was CFNY 102.1 FM and the multitude of diverse music being played ABC/Aztec Camera - Yazoo/Paul Young and many artists in between! I took comfort in being the permanent outcast in my family, ethnic community and city where I was born and eventually left forever! Play the music and know that your brother lives on in your HEART!

I always loved Canadian rock from the eighties. It had a rawness, a purity that was not matched by bands from any other country at the time. The music was very unique. As a yank from the States; my 83 Ford Escort's radio cassette player played tapes (yes, tapes) from such bands as Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger, Haywire, Corey Hart, Frozen Ghost, and many others from the Great White North. I would give anything to go back to the Spring of 89', driving down some back country road in the area I grew up, while listening to "New Girl Now".

As I write this, I just heard this over the radio while at work during cleanup and I just paused.....more like froze in time. I couldn't even work anymore. All I could think about was this song and I immediately shouted out does anyone know the name? No one, of course, could help me....but I found out the radio station and followed their playlist throughout the day and here I am. The chorus just froze me and for a split second.....time had stopped and I was flooded by a wave of nostalgia. I know I have heard this song once before as a child. I was born in 1982 so I had some memories of the 80's even though I wasn't old enough during those years. Thank god for music like this. Suddenly flashes of my life appeared before my eyes all because of a goddamn song. Incredible, incredible. One of the best damn melodies of the 80's and they're from my hometown of Canada. Geeez.....no wonder they're not more known.

From Woodhaven originally but River Heights rocks as a community in my humble estimate. Many historic manors there as well as some good family sized units. It's a classic neighbourhood with an historic mix of homes. And YES the 1970's was an equal era in terms of importance for music. There were a TON of local garage bands that played the circuit around the Winnipeg Area. My Dad used to regale us with stories of bands performing at the then Airliner Hotel and how these bands would do parodies of the current hits on the radio back then (the early 1970's). This is one of those songs that I would hear on the radio and really liked but never was able to find out the artist or title. I would happen to catch it part way through after the DJ had already introduced it (maybe) or when it ended the next song would begin and anyway, I never found out. Gradually I'd hear it less and less and it was finally forgotten. Today driving home from work I put on my Daily Mix from Spotify and they had added this song. How clever of them. I nearly cried at the sudden wave of nostalgia that hit me.

This song will always remind me of my co-worker. I sang the opening the lyrics randomly one night while I was having a smoke with my co-worker in her old chevy truck while on break at work. It was a typical a chilly winter night. She turned and said to me that she loved that song and I asked "whats the name of that song? i only know the lyrics" (my memory is terrible for songs). She told me the name of the song and the band. She told me of how it reminded her of her younger days. Rest in Peace Darleen, I'll never forget you.

Always good to see recognition of Canadian performers. Even from the US. I think I still have my LP of Worlds Away/Strange Advance. Thirty-odd years later.

how this didnt end up in a 80s movie with john cusack or molly ringwald is surprising. classic cheezy video, but great song.

I had this on casette and drove over 12 hours to my worksite from Winnipeg to N Manitoba, my sound system costed more than the car, but honestly it was like the soundtrack to my life, long lonely ride, wouldnt trade it for the world, makes me happy and sad at the same time

Some songs have the strange ability to conjure emotions from that time in your life and you may not even know why. For me, this is one of those songs. I'm listening with my soul rather than my ears. Melodie by Boys Brigade was another.

I would really like to see a video to World's Away. That, too, is a great song. Upon seeing this video, I realized that I hadn't heard the song or seen the video since it aired on MTV back in the 80's. I was ten years old. It was a pleasant surprise and this song is still just as good as I first remembered hearing it.

This song immediately puts me on a ski hill in Quebec, where I was when I first heard it. A most decent memory I must say.

The 80's wave table tech added an element to music that came out of the 70's. So one has to consider the 70's musics extended into the mid 80's before the rap and grunge.

A truly beautiful song,a amazing video clip...oh the 80s...the best decade in music, movies and television..today music is garbage, a lot of technology has damaged movies and television shows are useless and unfunny!
