It might be also good to try mining turrets on salt flats with the chance to find xp on mining

Very fun to watch, i was asking myself if there arent 2 classes better suited for this challenge. The juggernaut of course, because he has armor and only takes 1 damage from lava, while also having low weapon range for kiting the bosses without killing them. And the Tinkerer, which has the inbuilt 10% XP-gain, however doesn't have as good wepon choices, other than the laser rifle with cold overclock. Any thoughts? Greetings from Germany

I would think move speed and mining speed are both good to run away from the bosses and use the map to protect them. Gold also seems important for rerolls.

the xp pickup upgrade on the electric towers seems the best way to get extra xp

having dodge on the lava and not taking the xp-scanner seems bad to me. Would be interesting which level you can reach if you really try hard.

if you had that tripod drop alongwith clipboard. you can simply stand on magma and rack up both damage and xp.

i managed to get lvl45 at first stage (but died of greed at stage 4). hazard 5 saltpits. and here is how: tinkerer, playing with controller. tinkerer not just because of +10xp but his starting weapon. i took +xp and +movement whenever possible. LMG at lvl5, plasma grenade at 15 and shard ref at 25. dont level any weapon but the shotgun. i took the plasma upgrade. the key here is not to dmg the bosses and delay the stage as long as possible. kiting the horde in big circles. because of shotgun you can kinda controll the dmg to the bosses, so basically you decide when to kill. sure, the bugs are evolving like crazy, but with the powerfull shotgun you can breach through the new waves of bugs running at you, so you can kite for very long time. i am not even good at this game, i imagine you can do even more than lvl45 in the first stage. lieben gruß olli

I did tinkerer on my very first try during a stream and gave up after 2 times since I don't have a controller and could not properly aim away the "edges" of the bug horde clump. Might be time to buy one after all :(

You overthought this one way too much. If you want to go to a very high level you take the Warthog and only take front firing weapons, anything that won’t ever hit behind you and damage the elite. You then mine out the entire map and once the elite comes you circle the edges in loops. Bugs who cant spawn off screen due to the map edge instead spawn behind you, so you don’t get overwhelmed. I’ve gotten to lvl 50 on stage 1 like this.

There is no max level, you can scale the xp nearly infinitely with modifiers, but i will admit this is a very high level, good job.

hmmm, when I was looking at this I was considering what the most effective method for xp gain would be and I am starting to think that status effects might actually be the ticket with the clipboard. Status effects are better at killing smaller enemies than they are bosses so you get more time to level and with the bugs not wanting to go on lava you have the room to work with. So long as you have enough pickup range and health regen it could be fairly sustainable, as long as the status damage is enough to keep the smaller bugs dying

Bigger bugs will get on the lava though and then you die because you are surrounded. Does not really work imo
