Met them in 2021 after their gig in Lolapalooza São Paulo, I went to the hotel to try and talk to the Libertines (who are also AMAZING people and the sweetest with fans) and while I was talking to John in front of the hotel Joe showed up. It hadn't even crossed my mind that I might run into tem too, I was so shocked I just blurted out "Oh my god, I love you!" He imediately went "I love you too!" and hugged me. He was fangirling so hard over the Libs, it was very endearing to see an artist I admire so much feeling the same "Wow, I'm in the same room as them!" feeling I was experiencing. I told Joe I got to know them trough a Gary (Libs drummer) playlist and he was so excited, going "Gary, she met us trough a playlist of yours!" prompting Gary to yell "I TOLD you I like your band!" I talked to Jon when he went outside the hotel too, he was also really nice, and then Joe went back to the hotel bar and took us fans with him. Bowen was talking to some other artist and I really wanted to talk to him. I was very intimidated but went to say hi and he looked at me with the sweetest look in his eyes, I felt imediately at ease. Told him I like them cause they're "agressively wholesome" and he replied very enthusiastically "That's our whole vibe!" That night is one of my fondest memories.

This band has forced my brain to re-calibrate what it takes to make GOOD music. No auto-tune, no fancy fretwork. Just tribal emotion that harmonizes in a way that we can't explain. I don't know how you just "come up" w/ this sound, but I'm hooked.

But then I listened again and again and Al the disturbing nuances and atmosphere of these songs, how darkly sweet they are to the ear, completely captivated me and grew my interest from a small stream of water into a raging ocean.
