Ido Bachelet's moonshot to use nanorobotics for surgery has the potential to change lives globally. But who is the man behind the moonshot?
Ido graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a PhD in pharmacology and experimental therapeutics. Afterwards he did two postdocs; one in engineering at MIT and one in synthetic biology in the lab of George Church at the Wyss Institute at Harvard.
Now, his group at Bar-Ilan University designs and studies diverse technologies inspired by nature.

But what are the steps put in place should something go wrong with the nanobots? Let's say they become dysfunctional or non-operational, or even hostile towards the host, is there some sort of solution that can be taken to flush the nanobots out of the patient's system should the need arise?

Does anyone know when his human trial with the terminally ill volunteer is supposed to take place? The man was given six months to live at the end of last year, so the trial has to take place soon. It would be nothing short of astonishing if he was cured.

I love this, I'm very excited for this. My question, this might have been answered already... But what happens after the nano bots do their job? How are the eliminated from the body? Do they disintegrate? How do we keep them from malfunctioning and keep them from building up like plaque in our veins and organs?

I guess if they are there to cure/treat cancer we'd need them for life since there will always be a mutated cell developing. So do the bots expire and the patient would have to get new injections of fresh bots for life or will they never expire(less profitable)

I wondered about that, too. He does say, though, near the beginning of the video, that they can "tune the stability" of the nanobots in the bloodstream from minutes to hours. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm assuming he's talking about the sort of thing you mention.
