I'm reading a book about St Patrick and its illustrated by an artist who does Celtic calligraphy or iconography. The book has this part where it talks about Halloween and how the Celtic belief is veil between the spirit world lifts and then went on to talk about how the artist used divining rods around icons. It was weird sadly some places retain some of their pagan cultures. It just makes things hell and looks bad.

Any infraction of the commandments is first and foremost an infraction of the First Commandment, as you are deeming yourself, your volition, and your passions, to be higher than the volition and Passion of the Triune God. In dishonoring one's parents, murdering, fornicating, etc., you become your own god. The latter seven commandments are not lesser to the first three, but serve as an anthropological elucidation of the first three.

***** Ive been getting a lot of "i worship idols" to "go say a rosary and kiss your priests behind" Ive gotten it from co-workers and people on here. Nightmares, just a lot of stuff coming from all sides. mostly those that obviously don't understand the faith regurgitating what they are told instead of what they have learned themselves, or jilted ex-catholics (i am completely paraphrasing and not saying the worst comments that i have gotten). You are correct, the church and those that know the truth and follow the truth are being attacked and more then usual. It has been a real shift as I have seen it starting last week, funny how that correlates to right after halloween?

***** same here about the future of this planet, however God wins...always remember that, but you should find a good group of Catholic friends, or join a bible study, or even one of those apologetic talks (defense of the faith), and if you can a good priest that can help guide you. I can tell you all of those have certainly made me a stronger Catholic and more definite in what the church is about. Prayer also works wonders as well. Don't be afraid, that is what the devil wants. No one will truly and totally understand everything, for God is so big that humans cannot understand it all. But if you want to be strong, you will be. My advise, there are a lot of haters around...they have been taught to hate the Catholic Church and have learned to use phrases like..idol worshipers..etc to get you to question your faith. Even I had a moment during all of this where i questioned what they were saying, but found a good blog that explained it...on pathoes (?) .com. I searched 'Mary queen of heaven' and 'bible' and found it. They have the best explanation that I have found to date on this issue. So be strong, pray always, I rely as much as I can on God, He has never steered me wrong. There was a time that I did nothing but pray for Him to be with me always and gave my life over, and the blessings a graces that He gave me are not describable. Anyway..let me get off my tangent...The thing that I learned is that share only with those that willing to hear you, arguing only goes so far and it is hurtful to your spirit (now your calling might be different then mine, but I find this helpful when trying to keep focus..yes share but not to hateful people that only want to take you away from the church). Pray always, read the saints, stay with other Catholics until you are comfortable and learn the faith! That is the best way for you to really know what it is all about. Be aware that it is not necessary to 'show the other up'. If they want to de-rail you, you might want to consider letting them go. And...if you ever want to chat...i'm here for you! Sorry so long!

+dragondiva306 I get the same thing too. I barely comment in religious posts. Debates with protestants turns into a merry-go-round. You point them the facts, and they deny it. You point to them what is written in scripture and they deny it. They deny it as long as it comes from a Catholic's mouth. Aside from that, I think that people are feeling very anxious these days, and when people are anxious they lash out. There is no peace in this world and quite a bit of uncertainty.

+Paul Bevillard so very true, myself included these days...please pray for me. I had been talking to someone that put a lot of words in my mouth and even someone else pointed out that I never said those things. I guess what I learned is that you can only say the truth and if they want to listen they will. I've been starting to pray for those as well that I talk with, we can all use prayers these days. stay strong! stay confident in the faith! we need to stay in Jesus always expecially in these days when we can be so distracted by the fear that I'd being fermented after the shootings. we know the truth and we are called to proclaim it even only on our actions or prayers. I believe that we are in the midst of the separation of the sheep and goats... stay close to Christ this Advent. there is so much darkness it can only be brilliant on Christmas day!

Idolatry incudes, statues of Mary and all the saints. Mary cannot save you, nor can she hear any prayers! There is only one way to God, and that's through Jesus..period.
