The main thing i hate about drive rush is it eats your input. I can see it xoming so many times but the black screen into green eats the defenders next input. You have to play around THAT too

@@markmessi9020 it eats my elbow drop as Kim every time, it's infuriating 🤣 i would land directly on top of the opponent and interrupt them, get a counter hit into a medium etc but instead I end up jumping over them with Jmp and getting hit on landing, it doesn't even make sense lol the down input is held so if anything it should be eating the mp

@@remylebeau34 what dr does is causing a freeze and changing timings this way. the inputs are actually not eaten, but just being misstimed and moves do not come out because of it. "big nasty kail" made a video about it a while ago. it seemed to make sense and solutions would be to just mash inputs, if i remember correctly... because then you will hit the buttons late enough automatically. still stupid though...

@soramercury7074 I could be wrong but I watched fchamp talk about it and what he said was the opposite, tbh I got annoyed with big nasty kail for that video since it definitely does eat inputs, if it was just mistiming in this game there's a buffer window, which is why what fchamp says made sense, he said you can hold the button, say the normal you're trying to check drive rush with, and it will register, which you can see happening in training or replays with the inputs visible. It still doesn't fully make sense to me why my elbow drop input gets messed up though lol so I'm not saying you're wrong or anything. I honestly don't know enough about it myself but I would think its like a super freeze how if your input is before the super then it's basically already registered and will come out after the freeze, but if your input is during the freeze it gets cancelled, just with a much shorter freeze. As for my elbow drop problem... I dunno haha I guess maybe holding the button only works for buttons not directions

@@remylebeau34 well, holding the input could be similar in outcome to mashing it like i said, but f-champ talked about checking dr in neutral. when we talk about checking it this way, there should be no requirement to timings, since we are not doing cancels. but other than that, i think there really is a timing issue in those other cases, BUT eaten inputs in your case might as well... i'm not a kimberly player and so i just jumped into training mode and learned how the elbow drop works... so from what i understand, the requirement for the move to come out is a jump forward and being at the highest point of it. and the buffer is like crazy, since you can do the down + mp input right away, just after the jump. there really should be no room for a slowdown to fuck with timings, lol. the only question for me would be, why you rely on a move to check dr that can be antiaired out of it, just with dp. but better than just only jumping, when you happen to be airborne anyways. other than that, i heard pros complain about inputs being eaten here and there, but it's just like it's the easiest way to name the problem and not the most analytical one. so i went with what kail said, since to me it absolutely made sense and now that i rewatched a part of it, it does even more. but it really seems to be an incomplete analysis, given what the elbow drop issue is, lol. makes no sense at all.

Drive rush is simple boring. The main difference between great players and everyone else is that Great players can/will WALK forward and play proper neutral. Everyone else walks backwards, neutral jump, DRIVE RUSH, or use moves that move the character forward. They are afraid to walk unless the opponent is DOWN on the ground.

@@themagniflyi been doing this a lot more lately as i get used to playing footsies/neutral more (after many years of playing fighting games) and its a lot of fun just walking forward at unusual moments. Can can just walk under a lot of jumpins or walk up in peoples face and throw them 😂. I saw a few people say that neutral can be very abstract and hard to really teach. You just need to get a feel for it in game and have knowledge of behaviours to really get the most from it.

the problem is that everyone uses drive rush the same way, and everyone has the same counter play to it: do it first or let every other part of ur game suffer to react to it ur char is completely static in this game, no ultras, v triggers/skills, or supers to pick from to adjust, can't be too unique cuz of its a system based game so u won't have an answer in ur kit execution has been changed from peaks and valleys to just being consistent. used to be only a few people could do the optimal combos enough to form a gameplan around them , now any mid+ tier player can do optimal drive rush combos if only some chars wanted to press buffered medium into dr, and some wanted ex moves, some wanted reversals, etc, on top of the follow up combo being hard, the mechanic wouldn't be complained about as much even if it was just as strong

As I said some time ago, they need to reverse the spends for DR. Neutral DR should be 2.5 bar spend and on hit confirm it should be 1.5 bar spend to encourage extended combos and creativity (maybe scale the damage a bit to accommodate that). If you make it more expensive to neutral DR, people will have to use it more sparingly and tactically. Removing it altogether would completely destroy this game, we'd be going back to SFV and I presume nobody wants that. This game should play a bit like SF4, I really loved the FADC system, even though most had a problem with the 1 frame links that made it work (I personally didn't)

Tbh when I used manon her biggest weaknesses were when I could dominate neutral with my good buttons and the opponent would drive rush in and the fact that I couldn’t drive rush back. So I could see how this would irritate idom a manon player, its like you need to drive rush at her because she dominates the whiff punish game

This is why turning her 3HK (fallback side switch kick) into a special move would be great for checking drive rush. It could be a special move that low profiles, gives oki, slides out further the stronger the Kick version, with the OD version having faster startup and activation and puts opponents into a juggle state.

@@jayro792 it may currently be her best anti-air when cornered and it's undervalued for that. it has the most disjointed hitbox/hurtbox, it side switches, and hitting it punish counter actually gives you very good oki.

The problem qith the drive system is, that a game of SF6 without using DI, parry or DR just makes more fun. The reality of SF6 is Medium u to DR into strike throw and every character does the same thing. Also, the fucking time Shops every two seconds make the game borderline unplayable for me. It's non stop splooshing and splashing and my good if i hear another psssshhhh i'm gonna freak!

I think drive rush is a good design. I understand that it highly depends on the character but having an answer to lame players feels really good. I understand that fundamentals do include being careful and slowing it down but there has to be a point where it's so boring that it's a problem. SFV in the later stages had that exact problem. Then there's the characters that are designed in such a way that they can completely avoid footsies. I do not miss being forced to chase chun li in 3rd strike to prevent her building meter for simply existing. Why? Because her walk speed and normals are so good that it's so hard to do anything about what she wants to do. If everyone could play like that then yea, neutral skips like drive rush is a problem but when this so called slow and controlled fundamentals only become useful for top tiers then there needs to be an answer for it.

Parry, Focus Attack, Focus Cancel, V-Trigger, Supers, etc. Som eplayers just see the previous games with rose tinted glasses, especially when they dont achieve the same success (i.e. iDom).

People don't raw drive rush too much down here in the gold ranks, so it's not a factor for most players, and the game remains fun... also, if it was up to me, using raw drive rush should either be less safe or require more resources (meter)etc, but this change would be for pros like you, it wouldn't effect me much at all. 🙂

I don't mind drive rush too much. Drive impact on the other hand is just a big wtf. Why have a mechanic that slows down the game turns almost every interaction into a guess and forces opponents into the corner on maps that are already small to begin with because of drive rush? I made master and now I hate the game all because drive impact slows everything down.

at this point what really irks me about dRush (and aggressive options overall in SF6) is that the game just feels so darn biased towards the agressor. If the opponent hits me with their dRush they basically get a punish counter while they slide towards me, letting them confirm into a knockdown pretty easily, meanwhile if I interrupt it I just get a counter hit that can be very awkward to convert out off, shit doesn't even take away their drive. When I'm playing Chun, a lot of the times I catch a DR I don't have charge so I actually have to spend 2 bars just to get a knockdown, it's actually pretty hard to stop someone from just rotating through every single get in tool they got until you eventually slip up. Aggressive options should be strong but playing gimmick fighter almost every match is so annoying.

i don't even think manon's low forward is bad. it has great range and links into 5mp on counter hit or punish, aka 90 percent of the time you'll connect a low forward, at almost every range but the tip of her big ass foot and she gets everything she needs off a standing strong. its just that you need to be good at the game and actually hit the link instead of braindead cancel buffer option select shit

@@ds6972 I'm not trying to be argumentative when i say this, but there are definitely other game franchises that implement new systems with every release. MK has done that since MK9 (i believe earlier than that, but idk the game's mechanics well farther back than 9 and yes i know MK is the crappy FG). But now Tekken has done the same with their Heat system. Not sure about the others though. It really just boils down to people not liking change tbh. Some like it, some accept it for what it is and some just never like it. I think the resolution for this is to keep some of the older games in play for major tournaments with maybe half the current game's cash prizes. Ik that only sounds good in theory though. I dislike that we're all forced to leave the old games behind and only focus on the new and watch some of the pros get left behind because of it.

during the honeymoon period, when people were still learning the game & tf we were relieved it wasn't sfv .. when that ran it's course .. I never returned to sf6 because of drive rush.

Sf5 ruined a generation of players with how bad the game was and how laggy the online was lol it took 6 years for it to get good lol and the netcode was still horrible.

You must be new to FGs because SFV pre-covid as well as all FGs had pretty bad netcode and the offline communities were more important. Yeah, every game has good online now for a reason but there's also a reason online wasn't as good in the past.

Literally almost killed the franchise ? You must be new. not including super boring to watch .8 frames of delay enough said

I feel like the main issue with the game is some characters ability to straight up abuse there already better move set and plus buttons with raw drive rush making things impossible to react to or play against

I just deleted this game a week ago. To me this just isn’t Street Fighter. We’ve always had some form of neutral skip but when your entire game’s identity is a mechanic made to do that it ruins it.If you don’t like the game then do yourself a favor and delete it.

I stopped playing SF6 after reaching masters as a Manon main for exact same reason. I play now solely Tekken, not knowing 10k moves is better than constantly mixed up with RUSH, PLUS ON BLOCK, UNREACTABLE, SAFE, UNSCALING DMGING move. Also corner gambling game is disgusting. If I want to play gambling I can go to casino directly.
