Husky is pure entertainment on top of SC2 for me. He does pronounce some stuff weird. But he just seems to not care about what people think of him and he's just himself. It's a breath of fresh air. If I want to become pro or understand SC strategy on a whole other level, I'll watch others. If I want ESPN professionals I'll watch the MLG, WCS, GSL guys. I do like the professional stuff a lot too.

Early in the match Rotterdam was joking around about Idra's leaving early: "No idra don't leave you have 3000-3000 and all of those ultras" (at around 20:00). When Idra leaves he has a shitload of ultras and 3000+ / 3000+ for resources. LOL. Rotterdam is a prophet.

Thing is Seeker Missiles is so powerful that only way Zerg can win is by using Seeker Missiles on Ravens, because if Terran gets the Raven count up and Seeker Missles the Zerg then it's gg. That's why late game is broken it's just who can wipe out the other's entire army with one ability first, or starve em out.

Fungal was barely nerfed. Pro's use it all the time with great success. If you don't think infestors were broken in WOL then you're delusional. They didn't nerf the damage or the rooting, it just now is a fast projectile which technically increases the range a tiny bit. Infested terrans did suffer a heavy nerf, but being able to insta-cast an entire 3/3 army was totally broken.

Zerg's larva mechanic means that if you let them just macro up and get a ton of bases you're going to lose because a zerg can go from 0/200 to 200/200 instantly. If you're not putting pressure on a zerg you're going to lose. Terran has a ton of things they can do in the early game, which is fine, a little annoying, but fine. My problem is that come late game it becomes a game of who can seeker missile who's army. PDD neuters all of zergs anti air so the only option is the investor.

Any spellcaster is cost effective. I will agree, ultras are very cost effective. Banelings are iffy because while they lose their army, the zerg does too. But you showed the problem with late game zerg in your own comment: zerg snags 5+ bases and remaxes instantly: because zerg units are throw-away. While this works in the short term, after a few waves the zerg is left with no resources to mine and no army, while the opponent still retains their army and resources if they haven't been mined out.

Very impressive play from IdrA, cool to see. He wasted too much time though, he could've rolled over Polt but sat around way too long. If you take a huge lead with a great army composition but twiddle your thumbs while the Terran harasses and slowly gets the units he needs... I mean, there's no excuse for that.

It's not like zerg had two years of an instant-win late game composition or anything... They still have BL's, ultras, infestors, and the incredibly cost-efficient cracklings. And freaking vipers, which make late game zvp very cost efficient. Just because zergs don't have an auto-win late game doesn't mean the game is broken. You're just not used to it.

This is actually less of a rage quit than a lot of his previous games. Mass ravens in the hands of a top player is actually semi-unbeatable (unlike say, hallucinated void rays and dead command centers). But he forgot his job as an e-athlete. Has a long-distance runner ever stopped running because he's too far behind to win? He's been spoiled by EG for too long. Hopefully he'll come out of this a better sportsman.

You act as if the opponent looses no units in the "throwing away" of the zerg's units. If you lose 100 supply to kill 70 and are able to replace that 100 supply in one production cycle, you are in a fantastic spot, especially considering the 100 supply you lost probably cost less than the 70 supply you killed. That is the entire philosophy behind the zerg race and play-style. If you don't like it switch races.

Mass Raven is far from semi-unbeatable. Goswser beat Bomber at MLG even when the game got to that stage, using Viper/Corruptor/Infestor while switching back and forth between Brood Lords and Ultralisks. It took him over an hour, but he won. :)

IdrA playing greedy like Ret, but he was maxed out and played an excellent game. Then he decides that nope, it's time to quit, despite having 55 larvae and a 3k/3k bank. Polt must've been surprised. Hunter Seeker Missle does 150 damage to Brood Lord, but it pushes IdrA over the edge.

it's about the way he quits all of a sudden without the usual "gg" heads up. that's what we call "rage quitting". doesn't matter whether he won or lost the game or if he still had his army and supply. when he's laddering or streaming it's his business but he's on a tournament where the whole world can watch, he really needs to learn sportsmanship

Relevance wouldn't have worked, because the game's previous editions have huge relevance and influence on the game today. I was trying to state that just because it was one way in WoL, doesn't mean it's the same way in HotS, but next time I'll be less try to be less concise just for you. Ultras, infestors, and vipers alone won't win you the game. Supplementary units like roaches and hydras get wiped out instantly when against similar units (like MMM or stalkers/immortals) in the late game.

Cracklings may be throw-away, but they do amazing damage for their cost, and are therefore cost-effective. W/ ultra buffs zerg third tier is just as good in HOTS as in WOL

The previous two years have no epistemological bearing on the current game. As to infestors and vipers: of course spell casters are cost effective. That goes without saying. Broodlords can be easily dealt with - there's vikings, void rays, and corruptors, so their efficiency is a matter of the enemy's scouting. I will agree though, ultras are cost effective, but most zerg units are throw-away, so after 30 minutes both of you are out of minerals and you have no units, while your opponent does.

Right, avoiding phrases like "epistemological bearing" will make you less concise. Relevance and influence are two very different words. Plus ultras, infestors, vipers and queens actually can win you the game, look at the suppy vs. heart herolisk game. And I don't know what game you're playing, but roach/hydra beats stalker/immortal cost-for-cost every time. The only thing roach hydra doesn't beat is tier three protoss and MMM- and nothing below tier three beats MMM (except another MMM).

Well, while I do agree with that view and IdrA being analytical (and probably he´s read on THIS game was correct), you can´t really afford to have that view and attitude being a PRO gamer ... you´re expected to hold under pressure and to do everything in your power to pull wins, even in "unwinnable situations". Everyone , fans , sponsors, teammates, expect that from you if you´re a "PRO " gamer. You have to stay in the game until it´s certain that you´re absolutely dead. That´s my opinion.

i disagree. 65% maybe. his bank was big (i'm mostly talking about gas). he could remax 1 time IMMEDIATELY with tier 3 units and 1 time after that with tier 1-2 units after. Polt could only remax 2 time with marines! with great micro and the trust fund of gas, things could have changed. this is what idra does: QUIT. it's not because he's lost. this is his 3rd MAJOR early quit which shows his weak-minded will. he has a track record of bad late game analytics.
