Black man we struggle in building on a high sale that can benefit our people and families, but at least Idris Elba and Akon are trying. We as black men are not at the level to build cities but we can build Smart Eco-City eco off grid homes that functioning with clean water to drink and lights. In South Africa, smart cities are just extremely large gated communities that are very expensive. They are for the upper-middle class. I doubt smart cities is what African countries need. Investments into agriculture, small businesses, infrastructure, education and medicine would be best. Which African government is even going to back this because it won't benefit the masses.

This is not like Akon City. Akon confessed that he rushed into the development of the city, while Idris Elba had been taking his time, with planning, preliminary studies etc cetra. He also has attracted some of the world's premier wind and solar companies as well as other investors, in order to build this smart city. My personal opinion, is that, if and when the smart city is built in the picturesque Sherbro Island, lined with 19 miles of unspoiled beaches, along with its beautiful flora and funa, it will become a prototype for other cities in Africa to emulate. We have lots of sun and wind, in great abundance, in the continent, and could be harnessed as the new mode, of getting our power supply.
