I'm not justifying the method they used, but what was their motive for shutting it down?

I mentioned this on another vid too but I've noticed 2 interesting things: - one of the original 'selfish' bullies who helped to drag Mimic out of the studio was an Opossum, which is interesting considering he's currently in happy kahoots with Clutch. - Kit said 'only the idiot masses suffer' when coming up with his own plan, but it was stated a little while ago that the one evil that Mimic can't handle and absolutely hates is unecessary civilian casualties, so this makes me wonder... will Mimic end up throwing away his current 'masking' persona, clashing with Kit in the next arc because the fennec's actions go against his own morals? Plus will the others have to help Surge because Kit put her in danger? It would be interesting to see 👀 This annual had a lot to digest 😅

Since that line in issue #71, I knew Kit would go down a dark path. And honestly? As twisted as his plan is I can't help but be fascinated. He seems to be more autonomous (he didn't ask for Surge's approval for his plan) while still having Surge as the center of his entire being. Can't wait to see how things play out

Imagine if Surge turned good and Kitsunami was the one to stay Evil. If they do that it would truly be a shocker. Honestly, Mimic said it best, the two of them are codependent. Simply put, the best way for them to get better is to separate the two of them. What if Surge realizes this after discovering Kitsunami’s plan and chooses to cut ties with him?

I can even picture him going against Surge, since he’d be so hellbent in believing his way was the correct one he’ll try and force her to go along with his plan, claiming it’s what is best for her. Basically, it’d be the moment where his programming (borderline obsession at this point) reaches its peak. But knowing the series, Kit will probably just have a mental breakdown and shut down, similar to what happened in issue #50 when Tails defeated him, or in issue #53 when he thought Surge was dead

So Surge and Kit try to be heroes, but not for the right reasons. And they still want to get rid of Sonic and Tails. Yeah, Kit has always scared me, and he still does. It’s sweet seeing Knuckles reflect on his life, and the friends he made. Oh, and even a notice to keep in mind for issue 80! We haven’t even gotten past info for 76! As for Mimic, he’s even more twisted than I thought. He got recognition, but couldn’t accept people caring for him. That they would betray him for what he’s done in the past, so he betrayed them first. The guy wears many masks, and not just his only transformation. Also, before Whisper was Whisper, she was a Tangle?! What a twist!

Man, I actually had a theory long ago that Mimic assumed that the Diamond Cutters were using him and would betray him, so he did it first. Crazy that I was sort of right. Also, it might just be me, but it also seems that despite ehat he says about accepting who he is, he also hates himself and thinks he doesn't deserve friendship for the things he's done. I dunno, it'd be nice if that was looked into later. Imagine if he finally gets his redemption turning point after realizing he was wrong about the Diamond Cutters. Also, Whisper is completely different im the flashback, almost exactly like Tangle. No wonder they're best friends, Whisper probably sees herself in Tangle.

Knuckles and Mimic really touched a nerve for me. The former acknowledges he has friends he treasures deep down in spite of his life circumstances. The latter seemed like he really did see the Diamond Cutters as friends.

Man, I sense some irony, Kit questions Surges decision to kill eggman implying its short sided because then there will be no heroism cycle to make her receive praise as a hero, so he intends to secretly sabotage Surge to "keep her happy". However I don't think Surge will be happy when she finds out, I bet she'll feel betrayed and controlled just like with Clutch, except worse, by the only person she thought she trusted fully, I do not see this ending well, I can easily see Surge abandoning him in an emptional rage, and Kit going off the deep end and vecomung the true villain, I can easily see it making her rethink her morals and world views

Hm, this Annual came out at a rather bad time, especially with the Current Arc of the Main Story still going on, i feel like it came out way earlier than it was supposed to. Regardless, this was a very interesting Annual, really seemed to set a lot of things up, i can’t wait to see where it all leads. Especially with Surge and Kit, i know we’ve been told that there’s currently no plans for them to be anything but Villains, but i honestly don’t know what to call them here, Also, it seems like Kit really is the most Antagonistic of the Two, i wonder if his little plan could potentially backfire on him? What would happen if he actually tried to go for it and Surge found out?

this surge and kit comic Hero's calling, it's kind of dark when you realize that it solidifies Starline's plan. Starline wanted Surge and Kit to replace Sonic and Tails as the heros of the world to end the "Sonic cycle", now they actually want to do that. Starline's plant included removing Eggman so that he can be the main force, now Surge wants Eggman dead. his plan worked all it needed was his death, free Surge and Kit from his hold just so they may walk it down in their own volition.

This annual has a lot to digest. I do like seeing Surge's and Kit's dynamic. About them trying to be their own heroes and I do like Kit's dialogue hinting that he could be the big bad feeling. I like Knuckles' chapter when he is expressing gratitude with his life and with his friends how the Master Emerald is a part of him and his friends are a part of him also that makes him who he is. And finally my most favorite part is the one with Mimic. We see him expect story about how he became an actor and seeing other people who were so if he is hiding behind a mask and embracing who he is deep down or choosing who he is. And this breaks me to see that he betrayed people who let him in. And Whisper who is so happy upbeat is really adorable and sing the change from what we've seen so far is devastating. And not gonna lie though that chapter is a little bit chilling since he almost caught Whisper lacking. And it's really interesting to see inside of his psychology of what is going on around him and how he feels about things. He's choosing to embrace the mask and choosing to become selfish and arrogant. And I feel like this is really deep with a character who is a villain. I still hate him for how he literally led his friends to their own demise and how he literally traumatized Whisper. It's less about him trying to embrace who he is and choosing to be selfish and arrogant When he could have chose not to be. He had a choice but he is covering up his excuses by being cold and blaming everyone else and even trying to shift blame to the reader itself asking us "who are we?" I think he could probably be some type of sociopath in my opinion. The annual is very cool and Mimic still sucks as a person. Whisper deserves all the love and respect.

So what we’ve learned -mimic may have had feelings but is still a huge piece of garbage who needs to be taken out (he’s also a failed theater kid which is hilarious) -whisper was more like tangle being bubbly and excitable before her team died and she was the one that brought mimic into the fold which explains more of her guilt -Surge and Kit are becoming ‘heroes’ for purely self serving reasons, Surge for the recognition and Kit is finally becoming the murderous sociopath we all knew he was to keep surge reliant on him and they still both want the bros dead, so definitely no actual redemption anytime soon, they’re definitely becoming the tools Starline made them to be -team sonic is still a very wholesome found family (especially in contrast to the glitch siblings) and it’s nice to see a softer side of Knux and hearing his thoughts -Bubsy is canon -something happened in issue 75 and Sonic saved the day as usual (IDW Scheduling issues strike again!)

@@videogollumer The way I interpret this is that Amy and Tails got to a point that they were close with Sonic for some time before they served as potential mentor figures. Knuckles was connected to the Master Emerald before meeting Sonic and it was his entire character motivation in his debut game. In that sense, he was motivated by a personal duty while Sonic saves the day because it is his choice. I believe that there’s usually more to Knuckles’ choice of trusting Eggman than surface value. In S3&K, he didn’t know Sonic at the time. In SA1, he was despite to find the chaos emeralds to learn more about his ancestors and got upset when Sonic wouldn’t give him the emeralds that he had. In Sonic X, Knuckles was upset about being sent to earth and Eggman made it out to where Sonic wanted to prevent him from getting back to Angel Island. Sonic advanced 2 is a weird event that I unfortunately cannot justify, but for what it’s worth it was the last time.

Mimic is a very interesting casestudy of a character. He knows he is evil and he loves that, but deep down he is still "human" and he can't stop himself from caring and wanting friends. So instead he doubles down, killing his former friends (well more accuratly trapping them into a deadly trap and trying to kill the sole survivor) Same goes for Kit and Surge. Surge wants to become a hero, similar to Sonic, however with a different philosophy. She is straightforward like him, but in a different direction, thinking by killing someone the problem goes away. She challanges Sonic in a different way than his other rivals. Knuckles is with his power a contrast to Sonic's speed, Shadow and Metal are more or less equals to him in the very same category. Surge, while being fast herself, is more of a stress test for his ideals than his speed or strenght Kit, this creppy little fella, was made solely to support Surge. I'd say he still does this out of his own choice. This however that also means he can choose to ignore Surges wishes, despite wanting the best for her.

Mimic really has thrown a wrench in the current diamond cutters, I’ll never understand blaming lanolin when mimic has been the cause of every problem they’ve had, lanolin’s reaction being A REACTION Her behavior is always in response to something else happening I feel like when mimic caused the incident with Silver while he was pretending to be duo is when people finally just saw red and can’t comprehend her as her own character, which is sad considering we’ve been begging for unique and 3 dimensional characters with arcs, and we’re getting another one, that people just can’t respect While lanolin doesn’t always trust her team, her team doesn’t trust her either, when the silver thing happened whisper saw it and didn’t say anything, and while she doesn’t owe her team every single thought she has, not telling lanolin while she tried to sort out the conflict definetly wasn’t the move, on top of that Tangle repeatedly ignores lanolin’s plan’s and orders as team leader, the lack of communication and reception on all three parts of the new diamond cutters (Whisper, Lanolin, and Tangle) is what’s really starting to make their flaws show, and I really hope whisper realizes again that mimic is the problem and hopefully is able to unite her chosen family against him before he takes these ones from her too

Like I’m not talking about Whisper going from post mimic back to pre mimic again in a single story arc. Just her, at some point, showing that side coming back and having her, over the course of a handful of other stories, show that side coming back a little more.

I find it kind of funny how this somehow gave slight spoilers about what will happen in the mainline issues, Kit will apparently sabotage Surge's plans just to continue acting like a hero (which I liked in a way where he's acting more autonomously instead of just blindly following Surge's orders). Knuckles' story was the one I enjoyed the most, mainly because of the art and the monologue and man, I love this calmer and more relaxing vibe of stories like this, I like a good story full of action and cool moments but a break to breathe is also good and Knuckles' story shows this well (not to mention that Adam Bryce Thomas cooked with these pages, just look at that art and symbolism!) By the way the music from Big's store in Frontiers It would also give a good vibe to this moment, now Mimic's story was something I liked and had been missing for a while with that vibe that the issues had at the beginning like "we're exploring Sonic's world and it's fun! look at how many things and events happened and happen simultaneously and the that can be worked on in the future!" and I liked this development of Mimic, deep down he must feel bad for betraying those who accepted him willingly but he probably won't go back on his path, I just don't know if I understood the last page correctly, when he says "who are you?" was it like a breaking of the fourth wall and is he talking to the reader (in this case, us) or did someone approach him by surprise? This last option crossed my mind as a plot twist and a good cliffhanger lol
