Hello and welcome to this simple everyday life vlog. I’m currently in Estonia and enjoying the slow small town life here. My mother had a birthday, so I’m making her some natural Cayenne pain relief salve using hot infusion method. I got this beautiful recipe from an herbalist and I’m going to share her video down below where she talks about the salve properties and shows how to make it. I tweaked the recipe a bit, so I share my recipe down below. I also make some bath salts for a gift.
Cayenne Pain Relief Salve:
140ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil
37ml Hemp Seed Oil (or more, to get the oil ratio up to 177ml)
3 tbsp Cayenne Pepper
43g Beeswax
Essential Oils: 40 drops Clove, 30 drops Lavender, and 20 drops Peppermint
3-4 small jars (dark glass if possible)
Hot infusion: Heat the cayenne pepper and extra virgin olive oil very gently in a double boiler until warm. Remove from heat and let it cool down for 20 minutes, then repeat this process for several hours. After that, I let it infuse overnight. Strain the oil through cheesecloth or something similar. Melt the beeswax with the cayenne infusion (I weighed the oil before melting with beeswax). Transferring and working with the cayenne infused oil may result in losing quite a bit of it. To reach a total of 177 ml of oil, I calculated how much hemp seed oil I needed (which was 77 ml of hemp seed oil for me). Add the hemp seed oil last because it’s not good to heat it. Once everything is melted, let it cool down enough, and then add the essential oils. Pour into jars.
The recipe is from Danu’s Irish Herb Garden
