This video was not just marketing fluff, but actually helped me understand why IEC 61499 is going to help integrate the IT/OT world and not replace IEC 61131.

This is all good and well, BUT, this video is neither a tutorial nor an example, it is a discussion about a concept! Can someone please point me to an example where I can see the actual code in a controller interfacing to an actual I/O device like a PLC , including the actual communication configuration between devices etc. I fully understand how it could work, but showing me a couple of pictures of some industrial equipment without a single piece of information or any drawings or real network diagrams etc. does not help me to understand anything. If the project mentioned in the video is a proof of concept for the purpose of real-time implementation of IEC 61499, then I presume that there should be no problem publishing all the engineering drawings and code?

Hi Simon, I may be able to help you here. I’m one of the training managers for =SE= and we’re in the process of creating a bunch of content on 61499. Please let me know if you’re interested in a training course.
