ieGeek have released a new 5MP IP Camera so I picked one up from Amazon and started testing. Initially it worked fine, but I quickly started having issues with jerky footage being recorded. I replaced the SD card with one having a very fast read/write capability and unfortunately it made no difference. I contacted the seller and they sent me a replacement camera. This was no better; in fact, it was worse. I should point out that I am using this camera 'wired' not over wifi, so there should be no issues with connection. The seller has not been able to advise how to repair this issue, so I cannot recommend you buy this camera at present. If they can advise of what needs to be done to resolve this issue then I will update the video accordingly, but for now, I would hold off. This is a shame because the motion detection is much improved with this model.

Great honest review, just wondering if it is still worth buying for the improved motion detection system on it, is it alot more reliable and accurate for that purpose alone? I don't mind the jerky video footage as long as the pictures and motion sensors are better than the previous 2mp version.

Thanks. If that’s all you are interested in then I’d say this would like suit your requirements. The motion detection is still not perfect but it’s improved since the previous models. The google nest ones are the business for motion detection if you can stretch to that. 👌

I have purchased this model having had two of the older 1080p versions for a number of years. I am very happy with the 1080p version and it is no problem at all to interrogate the old recorded footage of passing people or vehicles. This camera is pin sharp and I am very impressed with the quality of the "STILL" image..... However.... The video footage is unusable. The camera takes a 15 second recording as set by me and the objects that are constant are great.... The same cannot be said for the moving objects. I literally just get a blob and can only tell the cololur of whatever it was that passed the gates. I am going to have to send it back and get another 1080p version.... A rewal shame as the quality is pin sharp. Just for the record I am using it WI-FI and have tried it hard wired aswell and there is literally no difference. I am set on the lowest and the highest resolution and no difference. It is recording at 24 FPS on quality 1. I hope this helps anyone thinking of purchasing and if anybody can come up with a solution in the next 24 hrs I would be very grateful.

Great info there , Hi any news on the issues ? Also can cloudedge be used on these ,models ,was wondering why some iegeek have CamHi yet other iegeek types say cloudedge ,surely better with 1 app only if I had different model numbers ?

No update I’m afraid. I stopped using the 5mp camera as I couldn’t get it sorted. I wasn’t aware the newer cameras are using a different app. Maybe the older cameras can use cloudedge too?

Good morning. I’m having problems with one of my cameras. It keeps disconnecting. I have reset it several times and deleted it from my app and installed it several times and it keep doing the same. Have you got any idea why it’s doing so????

Sounds like it's dying. If within 12 months contact support to discuss a replacement.

The Camhi pro is utter garbage! Very unstable and buggy plus the cameras are cheap Chinese rubbish save you money and get a decent set up you will thank me for it !

Hi mate I connected mine up an the camera come on but soon as I pull the Ethernet cable out it won’t re connect it just constantly says reconnecting but never does

Hold the reset button on the end of the lead for 20 seconds. Reboot your router and try again. 👍

@@TheLoneRanger1992 Remove it from the app and try and set it up as an existing camera by wifi. If that doesn’t work, I would send it back.

Gee Whiz RS ok thanks mate also do you know if I can unplug it during the daytime when I’m home as I only really want it to be active through the night and whilst I’m at work or would it not work properly if I keep unplugging it time to time?

@@TheLoneRanger1992 You can set the recording schedule in ‘sd card plan recording’ and click on ‘advanced’.

Is the frame rate as bad when viewing it through the web browser, or just on the recorded footage?

Yes, you are accessing the same file. It plays exactly the same whether you stream the footage or download the footage then play it.

@@GeeWhizRS Thank you, I plan to feed a bunch of cameras into software that will handle the motion detection and recording so wasn't sure if it would still be an issue. Will keep looking!

Hi mate. I have 2 iegeek cameras installed on my property. I had my car searched by someone over the night and when i tried to find the videos on the sd card i can’t find anything. I’ve tried the sd card in the laptop aswell still not working. What shall i do?

It can be very difficult and time consuming trying to find footage of events unless you know what time the event occurred. I feel your pain. The other thing to check first is that the camera time setting is correct because if it’s an hour out for the clock change then you’re looking in the wrong place.

I’m getting some difficulties with the app aswell as with the sd in the laptop. When i try to look on the previous days footage the app kicks me out. And when i inserted the sd card into laptop it said there is something wrong with the sd and laptop tried to fix it. After it finished fixing it will only allow me to see a few days from January and nothing from the night when my car was searched.

@@aldeagabriel6273 I would think the SD card has died but would try and format it before giving up on it. If it’s still not working, have you another you can try? If not, maybe put the card in out of the other camera, format and see if you can view footage on that card.

@@aldeagabriel6273 If you have tried the SD card in another device and it won’t play it’s likely the card is corrupted (broken). It does sound as though you won’t be able to view the footage you want. I’m only suggesting to format the card to try and make the card usable again. You can find the option to format the card in ‘sd card settings’. It will wipe the card. If you do that, let the camera record on it for a while then see if you can watch the footage. If it turns out that the camera is shot, have a look at the Google Nest cameras. They’re not perfect but the event recordings will make finding an ‘event’ very much easier. Yes they’re more expensive but at least they do what you need when you need it.

Shame, the image quality looks very good. I know it's not your job to experiment to make it work, but if you are interested why not try: Different video coding. | Frame rate | SD card. Thank you for the video.

I did. I tried everything for weeks to try and get smooth footage. One minute it would be good, then it would switch to being jerky again. The seller sent me a replacement camera but it was worse.

@@GeeWhizRS I see. I've noticed that my camera heats up a little bit while setting up. It's meant to be outside, so I guess once mounted will be ok. But if that's an indication of slight overclocking of whatever inexpensive chipset they have opted for - might explain if the new model is struggling. Did you check if the camera was hotter than you would anticipate?

@@slavistoyanov432 I wish I knew for sure but I think it's related to hardware. What I can tell you though is that the issue is not limited to just the 5MP camera. I have seen this on all versions of their outdoor cameras. I currently have 4 ieGeek cameras installed (3 x IG80 & 1 x IG62). Only one of IG80 cameras records smooth footage, the other 3 record jerky footage. They all recorded smoothly at the start and then progress to jerky recording. The seller actually contacted me earlier today as they have noticed I have amended my amazon reviews negatively. They suggested many other customers had the same issue but after their testing they have decided it was down to poor network connection. I'm not buying this though because the jerky footage is recorded directly to the SD card whether there is a network connection or not.

thanks a lot for this video man! I was planning on buying this one since i already had the 2mp model but i returned them last month since one was deffective. Do you have any other camera you could recommend me with more than 2mp ? Before buying the iegeek 2mp i had 2 reolinks 4mp cameras. They were great, but i had to return them since (for some reason) i couldn't record 24/7, only with motion detection... You already know how shit these sensors are, specially on rainy or windy days it's impossible not to have dozens or hundreds of notifications which makes the cameras usuless i guess. Thanks !

Unfortunately I can't recommend another camera yet; I'm still looking for something decent. The Google Nest IQ looks the business but it's crazy money and a subscription based storage deal so that's the top end of the price bracket. The motion detection on the IG82 and IG90 (this one) include humanoid detection which you can set to work in conjunction with motion detection. So that should only trigger an alert when movement is detected AND it looks like a human. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work well and rain still triggers it. I have turned the sensitivity way down to about 8% and I'm not getting rain triggering it now. If I find anything suitable, I'll update the comments. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻

@@DiogoiRibeiro Just to let you know; I picked up a Google Nest Outdoor IQ Camera earlier this week as there was 22% off on a google promotion. Still pretty expensive and there's an annual subscription of £100 for the cloud service (includes all cameras you have). That said, the footage is excellent and the app is pretty good too. It's not perfect but I would think this is one of the better solutions out there.

Gee Whiz RS Hi! I’ve been waiting for Amazon to refund me an order and I finally can buy new cameras. Sadly, yesterday the iegeek 2mp cameras were out of stock. The ones available now are used and not new. I guess I will have to wait until they have stock. Although, the previous model of this camera (also 2mp) still has stock and its a big cheaper. Do you think is it worth it ? Is the difference that big between the older model ? Thanks a lot for remembering me!

@@DiogoiRibeiro Don't go for the old round one where you can see the LEDs on the front. The square shaped one is pretty good; although it doesn't have the humanoid detection that the later one has. In all honesty though you will probably turn off motion detection anyway cause it'll annoy you when it rains.

how do you update the firmware?? i can't connect via WIFI it keeps saying WIFI password error but ethernet works perfectly. i have 3 of the 2mp versions and they connect and work perfectly but this one is just burning my head out trying to get it to connect, i've tried everything and this is my second one after i sent the first one back thinking it was faulty. can't find anything on the internet on how to do it, i've never had so much trouble with a device like this in my whole life :( i've contacted the company but they will probably waffle on to me in broken English about the problem.

If you need to update the firmware the seller can send you a download link. There are lots of files. You’ll probably need to send them the camera ID number.
