I think the IELTS test also focuses on how your speech is, because when speaking to someone, you have to listen first and then start speaking. She was a little hasty in responding, but she is definitely self-confident. Just my humble opinion 😊

​@@general9504Whichever direction you decide to go with your answer has no contribution to your score, you can bring a native that doesn't like music to explain why they don't like music and they would still score high. It's not about the content of the answer. It's about the language proficiency you deliver the answer with.

If it was an actual exam she would definitely get a lower score, yes she can speak English but she does not listen and understand the questions fully. Her ideas are not clear nor her grammar.

I've seen tons of people who think that they are fluent or advanced just because they talk fast, and in my opinion it's ridiculous. if it depended on that, we would see every native speaker speaking fast, and it isn't always like that. being a easy-going person doesn't mean you are not fluent or advanced, and speaking like a crazy person doesn't mean you are advanced either.

What do you have in IELTS? Some questions are boring and tricky intentionally ? I don't want to answer them in my language , you want to let us expand in English? some questions have been asked out of real life communication, what is the meaning of your IELTS speaking? take the exam more , you can earn more money right ? want to make money go against conscience ? Not sure how the assessment score is calculated, is it 0-10 scale, she deserves 9 or 9.5. She was able to understand and talk about diverse topics. Now when it comes to accent, it’s not fair to expect a non-native speaker to speak like a native, not fair expectation. Lastly, the interviewer asking questions about music after move to cake, come on, make a normal sense conversation, that’s stupid (it would be same like someone talks about medicine topic to someone who is not in that domain). Anyways stupid test in my view. She did great, congrats Maria.
