I like that you addressed the cable tangling issue! It's so frustrating when you have to wrestle to untangle your IEMs.

I have the gold one and the choice of tips can have a big effect on the sound. I use the smallest tips I could find, none of which came with the RE800, and I ended up with two tips as my final choice. I got a small one that fits more comfortably from a cheap pair of earbuds and the smallest one that comes with the AKG branded earbuds you get with the Note 9 that fit well but with a little pressure build up in my ear. The one from the cheap buds sounds good but it lacks in bass. The one from the Note 9 buds sounds a little more closed in but still good and the bass is fantastic. It's interesting how much something that seems so minor can make such a big difference.

The HiFiMan RE800 Silver is a fantastic value for the price. The build quality is solid, and the sound is incredible. The bass is punchy and tight, while the mids are clear and natural. The highs are slightly bright, but it's not overly harsh.

Great review mate. I lost my beloved ie800 and have been looking for a replacement. I do love my bass though and my dream item would be a basier ie800. Would you recommend these or the golds or something else? (re2000 are to $$ for me)

i have bought two of these in the past with heavy discounts. sad to say, the first things to always give out is the wires. it keeps giving out and exposing the inner wires :( otherwise, great neutral iems

It's much different than any of your current IEMs, I think it's worth giving it a try. The technical performance is quite high when we skip the tonality.
