This doesnt make much sense. Eye contact is a basic part of communication. Like sure, dont stare at each other, but to not meet eyes at all while speaking to someone is weird and only leads to more misunderstandings.

Assalamu alaykum bro, if it throws you off looking low then just lower your gaze to like shoulder level and look past them. If it genuinely keeps throwing you off then just re-establish eye contact for a second then look low again until it becomes easy for u. Maybe you could try something like that? But I think it's just best to try and lower it without looking at all

Alhamdulillah that there is no sin for us to look at men, because I have some problem with hearing, all sounds are kind of muffled together for me, especially if there is a background noise - cars driving, market noises and such. If I look at the mouth of a speaker I can understand what they are saying better, otherwise I tend to.ask people to repeat themselves as often as 3-5 times until I understand what they are saying (or if I'm shy to do that then I just pretend I understood and hope that it wasn't anything very important).

Quran 24:31 ... And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; ... ( The verse continues ) . Both gender has to lower their gaze. Of course, we have to look to help us walk and navigate throughout the streets and people. Looking and gazing are two different things. We can look there is no harm but they should not gaze over the opposite gender and same for men. If ' I ' see a women , inside my mind , ik that person is a women and after looking at her ( the 1st sight ) I have to lower my gaze or don't gaze over her . Many sins and fitna starts from the eyes and gazing . We are ( both gender ) from the core are Human and are divided by gender.

I am not married, and I lower my gaze when I'm in public (alhamdulillah) and I don't wear makeup but if I wear niqab how am I going to get married, how is a man that I'd want to get married to going to see my face and see if he's attracted to me before proposing to me? people can be attracted to you for other reasons - like the fact you're studious and go to school, from hearing about you through family or friends. And then when the time is right and he proposes or wants to see your face that is allowed in a private setting as long as the intention is pure.
