The eyes of the forsaken are part of Invader Zim's creator's style. Have you read the other works of Jhonen Vasquez? If you aren't familiar his first black & white comic book was about a violently insane brutal serial murderer who regularly attempted suicide. It's a comedy! Johnny The Homicidal Manic is Vasquez's first work, followed up focusing on Johnny (Nny for short, you pronounce it like "knee,") and was followed up by a series focusing on Johnny's neighbor Todd Casil, or "Squee!" as that's what Johnny nicknamed him when they first met, Johnny had broken into Todd's house looking for Bactine in the middle of the night so Todd was understandably shocked and simply shrieked "SQUEE! when asked his name. After both of these comics someone thought that Nickelodeon was the right channel to give this guy a cartoon on & not MTV.

Swear to god Gir as a human boy reminds me of Squee from the Johnny series. The eyes, the derpy tongue, and the tiny body all screams Squee's name to me. For those of you who don't know, the Johnny series (Johnny The Homicidal Maniac) is a comic created by the Invader Zim Creator (Jhonen Vasquez). I keep it on the front of my dresser, it leans on the wall so people will see "Z?" as soon as they step into my room. I've always had a heart for Jhonen's work, both JTHM and IZ ^^

Yeah he's referred to with male pronouns in the show. Though his... home planet and "rest of his kind" make me think that he's nonbinary. What if... Human Kyubey uses male pronouns, but was born female. He can use male pronouns, even if he defines himself as non-binary. I just find that idea really ethereal and cool. A biological female, who uses he/him pronouns, encompasses the fem, the masc, and the perfect middle of bigender and agender all at the same time.

Male and female pronouns exist, but there's also an entire rainbow of different pronouns people have used in the past to define transgender, genderqueer, agender, demigender, and other identities. Fun fact, most of these pronouns were invented in the early Edo period to describe the gender fluidity of gods!

Sameee Then i read the creator said she actually doesn't have a mouth, its for the kids to proyect their emotions in her, it gives the character a inexpressive face, that way you can think she is sad or happy according to your emotions.

The creator of Hello Kitty actually have a reason to not give Hello Kitty a mouth. Usually kids toy(if they have face) are always smiling, but they don't want to do that so kids could imagine her emotion and not just happy all the time
