8:04 another method for this is to make a pattern called "808 stop" or something like that and on the first block, place an 808 note but lower the velocity all the way. Place this pattern in the playlist where you want the note to cut out. As long as you have "cut itself" on, this will work. It also works to chop off open hats, one shots, etc.

to do this would require extending your pattern to be longer than an even 4/8etc bar pattern to account for the cut. this is more useful for mid-pattern stops. the cut he used allows the pattern to not need extended beyond the original pattern. with a velocity cut, you're stuck extending the pattern to beyond where it actually ends which can make for a confusing workflow/layout on your sequencer edit: this comes from someone who did not know about the method he used, and has always done the method you described. now knowing his method, i will definitely be switching to cutting the end of patterns like kyle did edit 2: and yes, it isnt technically a massive deal to use a velocity stop *before* the end so that you don't need to extend the pattern, but now knowing kyle's method that method just feels a bit sloppy

This channel is changing how I see rap artists. Over the weekend I saw a girl perform an original rap and I thought it was pretty good. So when I went to talk to her after, she just goes “You were so distracting!” Meanwhile it was a Halloween party at a bar, and I’m dressed up, like everyone else is. The entire bar was circled around her, but that still wasn’t enough attention apparently. She had such little confidence she was threatened by someone in the crowd enjoying her song.
