@PtylerBeats
@PtylerBeats Ай бұрын
I have no real issue with the concept of throwing drums on a sample, because a lot of amazing beats are just that simple. The two main issues with Umair’s beats are that they WEREN’T simple and every sample is just ripped from popular songs. Like this dude just lives on whosampled starting at what popular producers use and then uses those samples. He’s not being creative (not saying he isn’t creative because idk, but he didn’t show any creativity) and he’s not leaving any space on the track for an artist. He’s just jamming them pack with sounds, which, yeah, sound good, but there’s so much more to production than squeezing as much sounds as you can into a track.

@ I feel like you’re getting unnecessarily attacked in the comments lol I’ve definitely contributed to it by giving my own critique about this style of production (which is clearly good for beat battles because it’s more entertaining than hearing an unfinished song), but I also just want to give you some positive feedback because the beats ARE good. I don’t think we’re knowledgeable about the beat battle scene, so these aren’t the type of beats we’re used to. And it’s one of the reasons you beat Kyle. He didn’t really produce his beats to stand on their own. It’s a just a different style. Producing a track for an artist is different than producing for the music to stand on its own. And you’re, at the very least, amazing at the second style. So congrats on your 10x! I have my own personal opinions about music, but at the end of the day, that’s all it is. You’re definitely a better producer than everyone in these comments with opinions.

I'm a beat production assistant at a studio in Latin America and this is the first time I've seen a video by Kyle and I must say that as someone who has been in the music industry for a while, I would have definitely given my vote to Kyle, not only because his production is very original but because you can clearly see the work, effort and above all the soul of the producer. For people who work and make a living from this, we understand the love and work that goes into making their beats from scratch. The first Judge is completely right in his opinion. Making a mix with several samples and adding a couple of juicy drums is not, for me, making a beat, but hey, the difference is knowing who is professional and who is not. the types of beats that win these battles are never like actual beats that could be used for actual songs they are beats that are kimda in a genre of their own, like very much sensationalized over the top beats that do way to much and are crowd pleasers but could never be used by an actual artist, and the ones that win would almost NEVER be picked by an artist. its not really an authentic producer battle, as in who creates the best beat for a hit record.

@@nickblank5712 No, there is a difference between sampling and copy paste, If someone who is a professional analyses his beat, i reckon 40% of it is litteraly copy paste if not more, as in, he did not do any edits to it. Sampling is taking the melodic tune, then different tonality / pitch / speed + additional elements which then whilst still reminding you of the original, becomes its own original work. That isnt what he did sorry.

@@nickblank5712no dawg. every beat had some iconic or recognizable song/beat and used the most popular parts of them without changing anything major. most of the beat is taken up by the words from the actual song too, it’s not even a sample. bro was more of a dj than a producer, literally made mashups and claimed them as beats. so if anything, all the people who made those songs that he mashed up, beat kyle beats, not umair.

Your beats were definitely dope; I definitely understand where the judges were coming from. You are a producer, not a beat maker. Your tracks tells story or album cuts. You leave room for the artist to breath and dope at the same time. That is one thing I had to learn from my days of beat battles. I lost 2 battles back to back and could not figure out what I was doing wrong until I realize that I had to create standalone beats and not beats that needs an artist to make it shine. After I made that adjustment, I won the next Istandard beat battle. I still have your song in my playlist, it was definitely a treat to have been there with them on the same stage.

@@CampionBondMUSIC As a constructive criticism, I think that in these types of events, originality and the effort that goes into making and producing beats and rhythms from scratch should also be valued, since taking and using samples is a resource, but it should not be 90% of the beat, since it feels more like a DJ mix than a beat. And if umair is a nine-time champion, perhaps this should be taken into account, since the event could become about who makes the best sample mix, and it would lose part of its meaning. But beyond that, I think it is a fun event and a good experience. Congratulations on that. I hope they improve and do more events in the future.

Umair sounded like a dj who knew how to chop n play wif drums ngl. The beats were good just felt like cheating using that many samples considering it’s a beat battle, I mean he didn’t even have a beat where all the sounds were his. Kinda defeats the purpose of being an engineer. I wanna hear what he can create on his own. But when it comes to making music for music and not competitions like these and as long as it sounds good idgaf how it was made. Im(unbiased)o Kyle was the better prod.

You have to remember where hip hop started. It consisted of sampled music of past time

@@Warframeplayer-s4l but you have to see where hip hop is now, sampling is still a big part of the culture but its WAY more than that now

plus he used samples that have been already used in iconic songs, probably so the crowd would feel more attached to it lol. very, very cheap. they're literally just much worse versions of songs that we already know

@@Warframeplayer-s4l yeah, but people like Herc & Flash were innovating & pioneering, these dudes are just lazy & uncreative.

@@varinderparmar8568 yeah hip hop is sampled based music. The point I was trying to make, it’s a characteristic.
