Bass guitar playing is often unsung and much because it is often much more simplified and usually anyone who can play guitar at an intermediate level or less, can pick up a bass and start playing. But to your point, it can be incredibly complex and extremely difficult. It's just that the majority of what we usually hear is so dumbed down by comparison. Although even much of that is actually harder to play than it sounds. This dude is undoubtedly Boss Level!
@sbwyo19662 жыл бұрын
My orchestration teacher plays bass in the studios. One of his no-no's when writing for bass is: "simplifying the bass part beyond all interest." This would be the opposite.
@sbwyo19662 жыл бұрын
Agreed, but the key role of a commercial bassist is grooving in a rhythm section, be it pop, rock, soul, r&b, jazz, salsa, etc. Done 1000 gigs in those genres, all of them live or die on the strength of the bass. In fact, if it's not really grooving, the audience knows it immediately, whether or not they can pinpoint it. Groove first, virtuosity way secondary.

I don't know why but this cover is probably my favorite of all your covers and I can't stop coming back to hear it. It's also my favorite for the music teacher and the names you gave each section of the song. Amazing!

to think we get to listen to this for free i just love how you arrange music charles, especially how you make the most out of the bass, not leaving a note that can be played unplayed while still being cohesive
