Its actual an intresting story behind it. The movie was supposed to be a canon James Bond film. But Charles K. Feldman, who bought the rights of Casino Royale, couldnt come to an agreement with Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman. Then he thought, "How hard can it be?", so he simple made his own James Bond movie. And some believe he made it as a satire, to get revenge to Broccoli and Saltzman, and trying to make James Bond a spoof, so it would ruin their succes. He used way to much money on the project. And in my opinion, there isnt much James Bond over the movie. But I see it as spoof movie, like Austin Powers.

Peter Sellers would have been great as Bond if it was played straight - instead of the farcical Ealing comedy Casino Royale they made around him. Peter Sellers wasn't pleased when he found out it wasn't a "proper" Bond movie & it's kinda sad really. without the vocals the '67 music fits well with the Bond theme - but as soon as the singing starts u know it's not being taken seriously.

The 1967 soundtrack featuring music by Burt Bacharach and performed by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, is considered one of the best ever. The movie, with the exception of the two scenes written by Woody Allen, don’t ask. The production was incredibly disorganized. Both Woody Allen and Peter Sellers walked off the set. In Woody’s case, he took a taxi directly to Heathrow, without stopping by his hotel. As a result, he wore the Dr. Noah suit he had in the movie, on the plane back to New York.
