It's cute you think that the Yeagerists didn't have plot armour. The only reason any of your main characters who are Yeagerists are alive is pure plot armour. Eren should be dead a long time ago, the only reason he's alive is plot armour. Floch should be dead long before this scene, only reason he's alive is plot armour - I mean this very scene is a good demonstration of the plot armour. The reality is that your favourite characters have just as much plot armour as the everyone else, you just don't like it when the plot armour is applied to everyone else.

What I was wondering during that entire fight was: 1) Where the FUCK were they getting all those thunder spears? There's literal HUNDREDS of them exploding, and there's no way they just have a stockpile of that many of them. 2) Where the FUCK were they getting all those troops? Annie, Mikasa and Reiner were going through them like a meat grinder, and yet their numbers don't seem to diminish in the slightest until Floch moved, and then they all suddenly disappeared.

Actually the fight was pretty much realistic Reiner and Annie protected engineers and helped stopping many yeagerist Hange, conny, mikasa were killing on ground level. Jean the camper was shooting. And in the end falco pieck killed many yegerist Alliance was well prepared with strategic plan on the other hand yeagerist were not preapared Floch faced jaw titan, hange, pieck to reach out ship. So it wasn't easy to break lineup of alliance

For real though, anybody who's played a game where you rely on strong but outnumbered units knows objective defense is the absolute worst, especially with ranged enemies. Port Battle without plot armor still probably would've ended in a bunch of dead Yeagerists, but you just can't defend a stationary target against so many enemies with guns and rockets strapped to their arms

@@hislord1 tl;dr AOT was always grounded itself in a realistic portrayal of the world it created, in which battles always ended, the port battle breaks this rule with flying colors due to being one sided, battle casualty free(willing self sacrifice post battle doesn't count), and completely without a greater plan. Yes, I am, because believe it or not, Attack on titan used to be a series very grounded in realism, not as in real life, but as a realistic portrayal of the world and rules it created. The Battle of Trost was also in essence an objective defense mission, and was won through extreme sacrifice, even with the discovery of Eren's powers, most cadets(Eren's squad as an example) and garrison members(Ian's elite squad as another example) present did not see the end of it. Same with the Battle of Shiganshina, some of my old manga reading mates may recall that before chapter 80 dropped, people were theorizing all sorts of insane Deus Ex machina's for how they'd get out of the situation, all sorts of basement weapon theories, Reiner turning back into his Soldier persona, Eren using the wall titans, all sorts of extremely anime solutions, but instead it was solved with some brutal tactical brilliance from Erwin, and more importantly to the realism and dedication to it's themes I'm talking about, came at a heavy price in the form of every recruit except Floch, Marlo, Moblit, the rest of Squad Hange, and the man himself Erwin, as well as Bertholt. Liberio the casualties were significantly one sided, but on top of it making thematic sense as a complete surprise attack, and actually being acknowledged and used in the plot, as the unexpectedly low casualty count further raised the popularity of the Yeagerist cause. it's also counterbalanced by the fact that one of the casualties for the Eldian side was Sasha, an icon of the franchise, and a character beloved by most of the fanbase. Even the Second Battle of Shiganshina, same season, just a few episodes ago, the casualties on both sides were extremely heavy, with Marley being all but wiped out, including titan shifter Porco, and several minor named characters like Koslow, with Eldia losing a ton of Soldiers, as well as characters like Pixis, Nile, and Louise. Every other battle in this series follows a similar principle except the final few, the battles with Annie kill off Levi Squad, as well as a bunch of scouts, and Stohess civilians. The battles following the appearance of titans inside Wall Maria kills Miche and his entire squad, the entirety of Ragako village save Connies mom, Kaya's mom, a bunch of Scouts, MP's, and Garrison soldiers, as well as Ymir at the very end. The Uprising arc. a smaller scale human vs human conflict like the Port, still ends with deaths on both sides, Kenny, the original Squad Hange, Dimo, etc. The closest battle in the series to the Port Battle Pre Rumbling arc is the Reiss Cave battle, which while not great, it was a more shorter fight that ended the way it did because there was a plan in place beforehand which gave the scouts a massive advantage. Still one of my least favorites tough Barring that, and the terrible, absolute worst fight in the series that is final battle, the Port battle doesn't fit in at all with the rest of the conflicts in the series, it's a one sided slaughter of those same soldiers who just came off the previous battle victorious, where the only casualties suffered on the main side are Magath and Shadis, two characters who die after the main battle, and do so on their own terms in a blaze of glory killing many more enemies with them, not even a single one of the defensless mechanics die, save the ones being dragged off before the battle started, there isn't a plan they follow that led to this good of an outcome, even the plot acknowledges Armins plan failed, it's just brute force against a numerically superior foe, but instead of getting absolutely shredded like in previous series battles where two groups get involved in urban combat, the worst damage the actual fighting does to the Alliance is somewhat injure the titan shifters, who're healed up and all ready to fight again within a few hours. Simply put, it just doesn't fit in the series, stealing the spot of Armin surviving being charred and then falling the height of the walls as the most unrealistic sequence in the series, only to be later dethroned, again, by the last battle.

Then send another wave of rumbling every time the military was being reformed, by planting spies in every country. Simultaneously, he could broadcast what Marley did to Paradis to all the Eldians in the world, and try and unite them under a UNOE (United Nations Organization for Eldians) [This is important because there was heavy propaganda against Paradis]. Once Marley would be exposed, they would have to seize Titan making technology, which would be protected like nuclear treaty, and only used to vote for the next Founding Titan and create them. Lastly distributing the 9 Titans among different set of countries as protection, and to maintain balance across the world in terms of Titan powers. It would've been a good ending with epic military destruction scenes, and a montage of the uniting and formation of UNOE.

Its hard to listen to order like that. Remember, Floch soldiers aren't some kind of veterans, we saw how they were hunted like flies, when Marley attack, so we saw already, that they are not the best of the best. And well to ignore immidiate threat (which is Rainer, Annie, Mikasa etc.) just to go after other immobile, and not threating you in any way target, requires a lot of gut, experience, etc, most of them were lacking that, and that may be the reason

if anyone would care to listen, i don't so much care that the boat wasn't blown ups as its the best way for alliance to do what they set out to do but my problem is that isayama has built this story to a where a major point of emphasis is on you cant truly paint anyone as the clear villain especially in s4 but with this ep the way the yaegerist lost inflicting literally no damage on anything but the titans made the alliance and their struggles and goal feel cheap. at this point i might agree mikasa is faster than a bullet don't ask me how but it felt like anyone who was apart of the alliances efforts were connected to the speed force. all in all connie, hange, or the scout recruiter whose name i forgot have no business chaining melee kills against that number of enemys without getting blasted on the second or third attempt. the way it seems like the yaegerist forfeited the battle takes away really any of the emotion of the alliances cool scenes. no doubt they probably wont be slaughtered by the yaegerist but that was a mickey mouse win.

Events loses their weight and impact when shit like this happen, The yeagerists feel like a band of redshirt fodder when you have 50+ of them get slaughtered without inflecting anything on the alliance. It feels like a cheap action film rather than a plot in attack on titan. Imagine in the return to shiganshina arc for example, The scouts don't lose Erwin, Marlow, Moblit and other characters and the heroes win. It would lose all its impact that there are no consequences for fights like we have here

Camera movements are tge reason the scene takes 5x times the hours required to make lol, but they are really worth it. Basically you start with two keyframes, the start and the end and you inbetween the rest of rames between them At least that's how I do it
