Hans has played a lot of chess since September under intense scrutiny and maintained ~2700 basically the whole time, sometimes slightly above, sometimes slightly below. Either he's exceptionally good at cheating even under scrutiny or he's 2700 strength. I'm guessing it's the latter
@jackfiercetree5205
@jackfiercetree5205 Жыл бұрын
I said, right from the start, his story about cheating to get his foot in the door totally makes sense. I really don't think it goes beyond that... I know how to stack cards. Not once have i done it while playing poker for money. I've cheated at cards, and created unbelievable hands, that weren't real, but once it was for keeps? Never. Not once, even a little bit.

I don't think Hans will be able to rely so much on opponents being suspiciously tilted anymore given that they know he bluffs in an atypical manner. Plus, now that he's much more well known, top players will be much more familiar with his style and be more serious against him. The competition in the 2700 space is a lot more crowded than at the 2800 level. It's one thing to claim that one is a 2800 player and another thing to actually reach rarefied air ahead of every other 2700 player who is just as determined.

Hans beat Magnus last time they played, Hans beat Hikaru last time they played, Hans beat Pragg last time they played, and Hans just beat Kramnik using the opening Kramnik is famous for against him😮. Go see what a poor sport Kramnik is and what he did and what an Alpha Hans was about it. Hans is a Beast! The smell of fear is strong in the chess world. Not one shred of actual proof. Tbh, regardless of what has been going on, I kinda wanna see Hans going for the top spots, not necessarily the word champion, but maybe the candidates tournament!! Hmmm maybe in the next 10 years? Because the field is currently dominated by players from Magnus's era... He'll be with Nodirbek, Gukesh, and Keymer, probably a few of my favourites greenhorns 😊 and we will sometimes see the analysis from current GMs (when they grow old) like the analysis of our beloved GM, Ivanchuk ❤ would be lovely!

Not really, he crushed a WGM (around 2300 rated) with 5-1 time odds. I repeat, he crushed, not just a normal win, while using only 1 minute, which is barely impossible to cheat with that time. It shows he could be easily a 2600 in blitz and after knowing that, he could have 100 points more in classical just as it happens with players like Gukesh or David Antón. So you are wrong

I agree with Fabi completely (and his opinion is worth drastically more than mine obviously) Hans clearly cheated online, and it wasn’t just random games it was in the pro chess league too That’s serious and I’m not downplaying that in any way BUT is there any clear evidence he’s cheated over the board? Nope He’s given some extremely bizarre and honestly, suspicious interviews But at the end of the day if you CAREFULLY go over all his games with the computer (and you have to be a good enough player to even do/understand this) then yes, he’s had some impressive games but so do plenty of other players at his level There isn’t a single OTB game of his I’ve seen where I concluded, after carefully reviewing it, oh yeah that’s definitely a cheater So it’s an entirely possible, and likely outcome, that yes he’s cheated online in serious events (this is simply beyond dispute) but he very well may not have cheated OTB either 🤷🏼‍♂️ We don’t know for sure and we may never know, but that’s what I think is most likely, and that’s also what Fabi and many other strong players are saying (and again their opinion is worth drastically more than mine, obviously)

Well they’re both right because of course it is in the middle. Hans is still a very good player, but he also blatantly cheated multiple times. Being exposed also drove him to work harder and improve. But Gotham is still sort of right it’s either he’s a cheater or he’s not, and its the first one. It’s 100% statistically proven that Hans cheated, even though he’s still a top 40 level player.

He's also had 15 or so different competitive over the board games that showed 100% computer accuracy within a 2-3 year span, including a couple of endgames. Carlsen has about 3 in his entire career, and IIRC they were all less than 25 moves. The odds of anyone having that many games - especially games with more than 30 moves, of which Hans has several - are simply beyond the bounds of reality.

Dude, he has 15+ 100% accuracy games over the past 5 years according to Stockfish, some of which included endgames. Magnus has about 3 in his whole career: all 30 moves or less. The top 100 haven't had that many between them in that time: quite possibly every OTB rated player in the world hasn't had that many perfect games in that time. Experiments at the LHC require a certainty of 99.9999% before a discovery is confirmed. Hans, from a statistical perspective, meets that accuracy for being a statistically confirmed cheat OTB. That's how absurd it is.
