As a Tennessee resident, the birth certificate processor does NOT go through all of that, they’ll ask if he’s the father and if he’d like to sign the birth certificate. They’ll take his license/state issued ID and viola!

Same in canada. The baby doesn't get the legal husbands name. It gets the legal fathers name. Whoever the mother says is the father unless he disputes it. Then the baby gets the mothers last name.

Worse case I have seen is 1 women putting the baby on 13 different men she has been with. Claiming all are the father and forcing them to pay child support. When 13 men were not the father, some other man was.

The judge should know the birth certificate stuff. If legally married under the law it is assumed to be the married mans and he doesn't need to do anything paperwork wise. If the woman wants to add a different name that man she wants has to do paperwork and sign.

In canada the ex isnt assumed to be the father if youre not divorced. You put the name of the actual father on the birth certificate. I never did anything at the hospital. I just named him. When i applied for a birth registration awhile later i sent info in the mail. I got his birth certificate when he was a teen.
