I think the line "if he wanted to he would" originated from women who HAD been communicating their needs to their man, but were ignored or the man would just outright do the very bare minimum and unconvincingly act like it was a chore. At least, thats how i perceived it, bc when the line was going around in thr beginning, it was mainly married women in long marriages who felt completely left alone by their spouse. Personally I agree with sage here I also have traditionalist values. I think after seeing so much toxic hookup culture in media, I have come to a realisation that marriage is not how much love you have for someone, it’s more of a mutual commitment.
