A tip for keeping cleaned glass jars clean longer. Once they are clean and dried store them upside down on the shelf. Any dust will settle on the outside of the bottom and is easily wiped off if necessary. The inside is still pristnely clean. Works with glasses too.

Hi, I'm 44 as well and apart from a couple of recipes I didn't learn much about food from my Mum. She didn't particularly like cooking which was great when I was a teenager because I loved cooking and then I became terminally ill and cooking and baking was something I could focus on and cooking for my parents as I moved back home when it was medically dangerous to live alone. I can't eat a ,ot of food due to having only one metre of my intestine left after many surgeries over the years. I also have aspergers food traits and I don't like mixing ingredients but I've been trying new flavours over the past couple of years. Unfortunately both my parents ts passed away in the past three years and apart from everything else I miss cooking for them. I've found a lot if amazing recipes on KZbin so I would recommend searching for a recipe and watching a few variations and make it how you like it. I've taught myself to make professional cake decorating from watching countless KZbin videos. I'd like to grow fruit trees, vegetables, have chickens etc but my health has limited what I can do. I have faith that you will be able to do some of the things you would like to do. I hope that you have a lot of fun doing whatever you try. Xx

FYI, The thing about seasoning stock as you go, is not being able to use it in feeding your child once giving the food you eat too. Salt and pepper not user friendly to toddlers eating same food as Mom and Dad, take the portions out before you season your meals for your child, because their little kidneys can not process those seasonings, especially the salt(sodium)! Take that in consideration once canning more towards time down the line when your child begins to eat people food.

Refrigerate the entire stockpot after you strain. Then ALL the fat comes to top, so the slow going with the fat separator is eliminated. One fell swoop. Then you also have the option to freeze that fat like people freeze bacon fat to use in cooking, etc. for flavor etc. If you do that or like to cook with the rendered fat.😊

Canning chicken is a HUGE plus! Soooooo many options. You are doing an amazing job for someone who is about to give birth. Nesting. Can't wait to see you and Josh with the new baby. I was really blessed after Thanksgiving. 2 friends brought me their turkey carcasses and leftover turkey parts. SCORE! They know how much I love to can my own bone stock and broth. One even gave me a ham bone with LOTS of ham on it.

Try waiting to add anything but bone until the last hour. The flavor of things like carrots, celery and onions changes and mutes during a long cook. Your flavor will be brighter and cleaner if you wait to add your herbs, seasoning and vegetables until your last hour for chicken and last 3 hours for beef. I am a professionally trained chef and that was one thing that I was surprised about the difference this technique made. Another big thing with beef stock is browning the bones with tomato paste before making the stock.

My husband got me the electric Presto canner for Christmas, and since I was canning up beef and chicken stock this weekend, he gave it to me early. Becky - that thing is a DREAM!! I'm so glad that I found your channel! Hope you are recovering well and enjoying this time with Baby Acre! ❤

Hey! Hiya! I hope all three of you Acres are doing beautifully and are happy as larks to be together. Quick FYI...did you know that most veggie peelers work in both directions? I use it that way now, down and right back up, and it's weird feeling at first, but man, it actually cuts down time when you're peeling a lot!. Happy Baby, Happy Holidays, Happy life you three. xo from a granny

Reusable mesh coffee filters (with different «mesh grades») are great to line your sieve with, for broth and also for greek yoghurt//yoghurt cheese/sour cream etc! Just such a nice shape, fits a sieve perfectly! 🤗💓

Thank you for this inspiration, Becky. I'm glad to know you and your family are doing well. I'm going in for surgery (nothing life threatening mind you) in 3 weeks and I'm totally canning a bunch of turkeys that are on sale. It'll help so much. Thank you for everything you do and I hope you rest well. :)

Glad I came across this. Pulled a turkey and some home raised chickens out of our freezer to can and make room in my freezer for meals before baby #9. Was wondering how to cook it all at once along with broth. Good demonstration, thank you.

Having fun getting tips and ideas watching your channel. Tip from me: I have a Ball Electric Waterbath canner and it has been my go-to for broth making. The metal flat that sits on the top of jars to keep them from rattling around will sit lower and be a shelf for solids. I put all the bones etc on top of it, fill it with water, and let it maintain the temp. It has a spigot from which you can drain without the fat for most of the broth. Love it!

I caught it when you set the pressure canner for 20 minutes and I’m so glad you did too. You have inspired me to buy an electric canner. We get so much chicken from the food bank and I want to can it instead of freezing it.

Hi Becky! I love your seasoned salt! It was a game changer for me it tasted so great it made me want to cook from scratch more often and make my own seasoning blends. It seems silly that something as simple as that made such a difference in my kitchen. Anyway, thank you!

I just bought a different weight for my 23 quart presto canner that can be separated to use just the weight you need for your elevation. No watching the pressure gage, It was less than $20.00. I got it at the local Ace Hardware and asked for a 'Jiggler'. Well, the guys had not idea, but when they looked up accessories for Presto canner, they had it! I am looking forward to using it!

What a nice surprise to see yet ANOTHER Becky video prerecorded for us! You are a KZbin ROCK STAR! Thank you so much for busting your rear to get all this content out when you were carrying the baby around inside your tummy. I am thinking of you and your sweet little family and wishing you all the rest and snuggles in the world, you so much deserve it! I can’t wait to get a glimpse of your sweet little baby when you feel rested and up for it, no rush, though. Labor is aptly named, isn’t it? You never know just how hard it can be until you go through it with your first baby.

meat has to be pressure canned if it isn't in a picle or acid so yes broth aswell. I've been looking into this coz we used to can and preserve a lot of things when I was a kid. Now living in uk they don't even know what canning is so i'm saving up to get a pressure canner shipped over. I already do water canning atm.

Living in Canada does Dave it’s benefits! For 6 months out of the year you can make broth and just put it outside for a bit and then you can just scoop the solid tallow/lard off.
This recipe should come with a WARNING label! It's that good!
