As someone who has only sold two bags from my entire collection and really loves the bags I have my advice is, don't fall into hype or trends, and don't ever buy an alternative to something you really want. As an example I bought a Valentino bag because I wanted a Chanel classic flap but couldn't afford it, the Valentino looked a lot like a classic flap, but it wasn't the classic flap, so I sold it, lost a lot of money and still bought the Chanel anyway. Just save a little longer, also don't spend all your money on SLG's 😂 I did that when I first started.

Oh wow this spoke to me! I started collecting LV in my early 20s, I wasn’t confident in my personal style and purchased “It” bags but never carried them. Sold off all but one, which my daughter received for her 21st. Took a break to pay the kid’s tuition, but recently rebooted my LV passion. This time was a whole different ball game. I knew my style and how I used bags. I set my ideal capsule collection based only on this, and what I loved. I decided to go vintage with sustainability and value in mind (and a trained eye plus authentication). I ended up with a speedy 30, an artsy mm and a game on cosmetic pouch converted to crossbody (divine❤). I’m using them and loving them with joy. I change it up with bandeaus and charms. Thanks for the great content.

I agree with you. Everyone has their own journey when it comes to collecting bags. I've had 3 to 4 iterations and I'm sure I will have more too. I feel that we all start with one particular brand-for me it was Louis Vuitton-and we just grow from there. It's just hard to think about long-term value when you're just starting out but it's definitely good advice to give 🤗

Great advice to never settle in regards to handbags. It’s better to do without the piece than to get something that’s almost like what you want but that’s not actually the thing you want. That’s why owning fakes never appealed to me, because that’s still money spent to impress other people with something that looks like the genuine article but isn’t. YOU know it’s fake. Ultimately bag collecting is highly personal, so you should buy for yourself, since we only have a finite number of days on this earth to enjoy them.

i concur. it might be a good idea to buy different materials, like woven straw, or vegan leather in an inexpensive brand to see how they wear longterm. always use a liner or a pouch to protect the inside of your bag. but most important, get the most wear you can out of it so it's enjoyable too.

With restarting a luxury handbag collection, I would say depending on the brand, go for your dream bag as your first bag purchase. With all the price increases across the luxury brands a 10% is felt more on a higher priced bag than a lower one so the more it is delayed, the more you end up spending in the long run. Very fun video and fingers crossed you hit 10K very soon! ❤

You are soooo right! My intuition ones said: I should only buy Hermès 🤣😇 no i am just joking. But to be honest: I sold all the bags I bought out of the blue / boredom / whatsoever and kept all the ones I really planned to buy. And one thing really helped me: every time I sell something, I right down 2 or 3 things why the thing/bag/dress/etc. did not work out in my notebook App. That really prevents buying the wrong stuff over and over again! Thx for the great video! 😘

Great video, thanks. I think it's important to realize that finding your style is a process and there will always be "regret purchases" as you're finding your way. It's counterintuitive, but I think beating myself up about bags I bought and later sold at a loss or gave away just keeps me in a mental cycle that's not helpful. It might be better to just accept where I am right now and focus on making decisions that work for me going forward.

Very good points Jess, I totally agree with you. If I get preloved Hermes, it’ll be the less popular ones. Which are really beautiful bags, and I think I prefer those as well instead of an obvious bag. ♥️♥️♥️🙏🏼😜😍🙌🏼

That’s so interesting Jess! Another fun video!! You are almost at 10k girl 🎉🎉🎉 I bet you will be there in the next day or two *sending good vibes* People argue about what’s better or best to do with their time and money… life is short though. Very short. Just do what you love 💕 that’s my philosophy 😊 hahaha 😝 Same here I didn’t invest in too many bags in my early 20, though I started collecting bags/accessories in my early teens 😅 mostly Louis Vuitton… but because I never ever sell, that has helped me to think more deeply (sometimes…) about what I buy since everything I buy stays with me 😂😂😂 love ❤ kiki

I have shopped more in my 30s, I did in my late 20s as well. I never buy anything with intention of selling, I have never sold anything, it would stress me. Life is stressful as it is. I am shopping less, I hope I can stop altogether for a while because space is another factor. I don’t buy second hand because I am not expert and would be scared. I hope you reach 10k this month ❤

My journey made no sense. My first designer bag was a lv Venice sac plat used for $250, my next designer bag was a birkin 35 from Rebag 3 years later. After that I fell into a crazy H hole 🕳️ but have managed to reduce down to 3 H bags from 9
