If I Had To Build My MAKEUP Collection From Scratch... This Is What I'd Buy!

I've seen this trend lately of building a collection from scratch, and I decided to give it a go with my minimalist makeup collection first, to see what I would realistically need right now 😊 And I must admit, it was super fun to try this, and also eye-opening, as now I know which products to use up and declutter 😉

Great video. Makeup minimalism content really opened my eyes to the absurdity that is beauty KZbin. I grew up with beauty content that promoted overconsumption and waste. Influencers promoting 1. buying, 2. overspending and 3. hoarding as a hobby & lifestyle. Nowadays I have just one of each category. 2 blushes and 2 eyeshadow quads. A few lipsticks, 2 liners, 2 glosses. That's it. I can easily create any look. My tips, if anyone wants some: Stick to what works for you, style and products wise. Ignore any trend that simply isn't your thing. Trying new stuff can be fun, wait till you finish something and than go ahead and add something new. :)

Yesss, it really is absurd! I was watching loads of beauty content too, and I kept buying more and more until realising it's pretty wasteful and unnecessary 🙈 That's why I love making these type of videos to show how little we can own without sacrificing on style 😍🥰 Thanks for sharing! ❤️

My collection is already pretty small since I don't wear a lot of makeup to begin with, but I do feel as if I could declutter my eyeshadow pallette since I don't tend to use it. One pot is enough for me! Thanks for making this video 😊

Another helpful & enjoyable video,thanks Kim. I almost never wear makeup but I’m finding that’s actually hindering me from decluttering because I don’t even wear it enough to have a uniform look. Also, like you, I need a summer base and a winter base. I think I have definitely “aged out” of some of my more colourful options, though.

Love this video Kim! My goal too, is to minimize my makeup. I just don’t need that much, and makeup expires. I want a small collection that I am able to use up, so that money isn’t wasted, so that I can spend my money on something else I want, like a handbag. ❤

Absolutely, I definitely use less lipstick because of my lip liner 🥰 Also, with lipsticks it really depends on how much we re-apply it - I am just bad at reapplying, haha 🙈

I want to downsize my makeup products. I did a 1st round… Will def do a 2nd and 3rd. Something I am doing this time is that when I buy something I am really sure and even consider without a blink investing in more expensive products if that is the product I am looking for. In the past I just settled or bought out of like not use because of the nice prices.

If i had to start again: Base: a low-medium coverage foundation, elf flawless brightening concealer (which I use as a colour corrector as it has pinky shade just perfect for me), Chanel les beiges healthy winter glow as a primer and to mix with my foundation to make it even more sheer. Face: Chanel cream bronzer as I use it instead of blush in summer, the Rimmel Kate Moss face palette, all 3 shades are just perfect for me and it’s inexpensive, but I’d slowly replace them with single alternatives as I don’t use them at the same pace. Eyes: CT the sophisticate and her oyster pearl cream shadow, Mac shadow she sparkles. A dark brown pencil liner (but have no holy grail yet), for mascara it would be ILIA great lash or la Roche Posay. The best waterproof one I’ve ever found is maybelline lash sensational waterproof (the non-waterproof isn’t nearly as good). For lips: Mac lipliner in spice, Nars dolce vita afterglow lipstick (my perfect nude and so moisturising), Chanel Rouge Allure velvet nuit in 02 (my perfect red). Sadly the Chanel is a limited addition so I will have to really search for a replacement as it’s just such a perfect formula for my taste: very saturated colour, not drying and yet very blendable. Gosh this was tough!

Love this video, Kim! Could you layer the two nudes in your collection? I saw make-up gurus creating a custom shade, maybe it's not so convenient, but I like to tweak my liquid blushes by mixing two and I think this trick can work with lipstick as well :)

It's from the Body Shop - Fresh Nude foundation, however, this is the old formula that is discontinued, and I haven't tried the new one yet so I'm not sure if it's same or not 😊
