Loved this as a 12yr old so much in 1979, went out and bought the 45” vinyl record. Sad thing is I’ve still got it, in its original yellow sleeve. Such an uplifting song... I get the 45 out now and again to listen to it. Something about playing my 45’s takes me back to my youth. “Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime” is also another Korgis classic. Totally underrated band.

Thanks David. Nothing sad about having fond childhood memories! Not sure many of the kids will have that from THIS year! Thanks for still being there. Hope you can make a gig sometime. If you do make sure you come and say hello! Al-guitar
@David-uq6yb3 жыл бұрын
@@THEKORGIS Thanks Al. My “sad” remark was tongue in cheek, as my old 45s are precious to me as they remind me of my youth...growing up in the 70s & 80s. “If I Had You” by the Korgis is one of my desert island songs. It is sad that youngsters today don’t have what we had back then... TOTPs on a Thursday night and the chart countdown on a Sunday evening. Music has a way of helping recall wonderful memories. I think that’s missing today and not for the good. But thanks for the music, will look out for future gigs.
@THEKORGIS3 жыл бұрын
Yeah David - we had it good! All those TV shows like TOTP and the Whistle Test. I saw so much music I loved on those shows. Nothing to compare these days. I guess the up side is a lot of kids are listening to old music via KZbin or Spotify. .. perhaps a lot more than you would think. My daughter asked me if I was a fan of Frank Zappa the other day!

@@canyoudigit6321 Yes it is!... this is Al Steele. Original writer James Warren, John Baker and myself write all the new stuff. This version of If I Had You is a recording we did at my studio last year. As you can hear, James' voice is just the same as it was in '79! In answer to your question there were more singles released (If Its Alright With You Baby and All The Love in the World) but with a new record company as the old one went bust. They perhaps didn't have as good connections as Rialto did. We continue to produce new music and the 2021 release Kartoon World has been described as a 'career high'. If you want to chat more then go to the Ask Us Something section on thekorgis.com/contact-us That will come through to our email.
