I love the fact that Arike kept differentiating the modern day feminism and the original idea. Feminism is not a satanic word, if you believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities, then you are a feminist. Just because a particular sect has demonized the idea doesn't make feminism a wrong idea.

It's actually a good cause; fighting for women's right. I wonder why people are trying to drift from the idea of inventing it in the first place

The whole thing is just western confusion. They were experimenting with an ideology and failed. Do men love women, it's a resounding yes. Do women like men, it's a resounding yes. I'm pretty sure it was some single women who started this stuff because they didn't know that

You're so discerning and matured in knowledge! Thanks for this. Nothing is wrong with feminism. Because a group of people impose their personal agenda and misconceptions on the idea doesn't make it fundamentally wrong. They're talking about "modern day feminist" or maybe "Nigerian Twitter Feminist" because there's absolutely nothing wrong with feminism as a concept. Just as Christianity is skewed because of the fallible human nature but doesn't inherently annul the original concept, same with feminism. You can't just wake up and demonise Christianity because your neighbour who is a pastor beats his wife, same way with feminism.

Congratulations to you Buchi and Arike once more. I'm glad you two are beginning this love together as married and I like the fact that you guys are beginning to share these opinions. I'm a silent follower of you on Facebook but never commented on any of your posts, reason? I Never saw the need to do so because I don't have strength to take vile words from Facebook women who were gbaming all you ever said. I'm not judging you anyway because of your past decisions and posts. I know all of us at certain point in our lives can see reason to make a shift and adjustment, but I'm just trying to pass this message across because there lots of people who are like me on your wall on Facebook and who will be following you here too on KZbin. It will take a while for all of us on this category to come around to love what you and Arike share now which is beautiful. Very beautiful. Kudos to you guys. Then let's talk about the topic "Feminism". We must know that Feminism from time immemorial remains the same till date. The meaning of Feminism has never changed and will never change for anyone. Feminism is a movement and not a fight. I'm sure what you call "modern" Feminism is what I call "Nigerian Facebook Feminism Women". Feminism can never change in its true sense, just that Nigerian Facebook women have a wrong perception of Feminism. Majority of them have never read any article or documentry on Feminism. The only thing they know is coming to Facebook to fight any man that makes a statement that doesn't favour them. Coming to Facebook to teach the young girls the wrong notion of Feminism and these girls grow to digest, hate and fight men. I'm an ardent believer of equal right and I've read lots of stuffs on Feminism and never did I see what Nigerian ladies are doing on Facebook and that's why the only Feminist I know in Nigeria is Ngozi Chimamanda Adichie, others on Facebook are noise makers. Unfortunately you can't go to these people's wall to hold a conversation on the comment section without these young girls coming to insult you and that's why I don't comment when they raise topics like this on Facebook. I rather hold my peace and continue scrolling than to comment. Feminism is a beautiful thing and people will appreciate it more when they realize the true sense and meaning of Feminism. People will appreciate it more when they know that Feminism holds the position that the society gives the men full priority, without them getting any attention and the movement was established to discuss how women are treated unjustly and in an unfair way in the society. The movement is to bring enlightenment on the interdisciplinary way of approach on the issue of equality and right of women in the society, in politics and in many aspects of our everyday lives. When this movement started, it wasn't so easy but they are making waves. They have actually done great work on this aspect because all of us both male and female deserve to live and live purposefully. For Nigerian women on Facebook, Feminism means a wife cooks on Monday and the husband cooks on Tuesday. A wife cooks on Wednesday and the husband cooks on Thursday and it continues that way which is a wrong notion of the movement Feminism. I wish alot of people will go deeper to study and know the real excence of Feminism. Buchi I must commend you for taking the bold step of making this shift and it sounds so mature now. Unlike when you make a biased statement on Facebook which ends up making two confused groups on Facebook to fight. (Confused groups are Alpha men and Nigerian Facebook Feminist women) It's a lovely thing you guys are bringing this topics up at this innitial stages to clear some earlier impressions. I wish you two Love and understanding in your marriage and I hope to see more videos in future. Goodluck to you too. Barnabas Nnaemeka Chimeodo.

You both touched on crucial points. Especially on the autonomy of women to choose what they want. Especially those women that do not conform to what "modern-day feminism" calls for. This conversation might have also benefitted from a bit more balance. The "modern-day feminist" perspective could have been more constructively explored than just the CNA example and a lot of generalisation. Looking forward to your trans convo.

I think house wives and what it entailed are really understated and this conversation about it is great. But problem is, most women who are housewives advise otherwise and say it's better to have a source of income no matter how small so I don't know what to believe🤷🏿♀️. My take, RESPECT is paramount in marriage, whether as a house wife or a career woman and being a house wife is alot of work which need to be appreciated and respected.

Bauchi you were a radical feminist, not a liberal feminist. There’s a huge difference. Every movement has their extreme side. At the end of the day, feminism is about women and men having access to equal opportunities not men and women being the same people. The meaning of feminism is still the same. Let’s look at the core meaning of feminism. If not for feminism, Arike, your wife, wouldn’t even be able to choose to be a house wife or not.

I enjoyed everybit of this podcast. You guys spoke everything in my mind and head,I stand for gender equality and i do not associate myself with modern day feminism because it's quite toxic, too intense, and they exalt women's rights more than that of men. I personally think modern day feminism started from where men in the olden days would say only their Male children will go to school and Female are just subjected to be housewives without having to make their own choices.which was totally evil, now modern day feminism has stood up to say no to that but however they do it the wrong way, putting women above, which when we look back it becomes vice versa.I believe everyone as equal right on this earth 50/50,but modern day feminism portrays 60/40 exalting the Female gender, which I do not stand for. It's funny when people hear me say I'm not a feminist they look at me like oh here comes the devil.lol,I repeat i do not stand for what modern day feminism represents, the hostility, the intense hatred etc,I do not stand for that.Thank you
