Great content! Not sure if you’re aware, but standard garden hose has a lot of lead in its manufacturing process. I use a food grade hose for filling my water supply for camp kitchen/camp bathing. Idk about the collapsible hose. I’m stoked for the winter backcountry touring! I started doing that just before Covid, and it was a lifesaver!

Oh to be hiking off trail -n those misty PNW woods bursting with life, what a dream! The impression I got with mushroom hunting is that it's better to learn from other people than a book. Like you said, it's easier once you know what to look for. Never eat foraged food unless you're 100% sure you know what it is.

As a fellow bike/van/shroomer...great video. As a newbie to mushroom hunting I would recommend focusing on a few varieties that are 1) delicious and 2) hard to confuse with anything else. Look for chantrelles, yellowfoot chanterelles, hedgehogs, and black trumpets. Magic eye is real. So is looking for the appropriate forest vegetation that each of these varieties are generally associated with. Going with a veteran a few times changed my game. If you're ever back in Mendo I'll show you around.

J, Most of the gear is me being into it and hunting out ways to get it. Often as trade to showcase. The wheels and tires were the only thing that was straight up retail for the rig. all else has been supported, BUT things that I wanted for the rig!

Can confirm that the mushrooms need a special eye setting. Mind setting perhaps. Once it clicks, you can find ten mushrooms at a place where there were none a moment ago. Or maybe the mushrooms can hide or appear at their will. Hard to say. The Fungi realm is quite special.

Awesome adventure. I love that shower idea for bike cleaning too, that is turning into a mean machine. Honestly i will buy one all-encompassing DK experience package duplicate of everything you own and just assume that new life. Mushrooms spook me, i don't think i could ever remember what is going to kill me and what is tasty. i can barely remember year to year what berries are safe to eat. Love this format of video !

The rack does not affect the back up camera. If there’s bikes on it, it can be a little bit challenging.

Do you live in your van full-time or just take trips? Also, there’s an app called “picture mushroom” that can identify mushrooms you take pictures of and it’s a sister app to “picture this” which identifies any other wild plant. I use “picture this” on every hiking trip I go on and I’ve managed to teach myself to accurately identify over 50 wild edible species. I’m not sure how accurate “picture mushroom” is but “picture this” is very accurate so I figure the sister app should be as well. Good luck.
