Wise biohacking, I like the sound of that. I don't get 8 hrs sleep unfortunately but I try to get as much as I can. My tools for sleep are, 1 don't drink tea before bed, 2 keep the cat out of the room if you have one. 3 keep the room dark and cool. 4 get ready for bed about an hour before bed, brushing teeth, washing your face etc as this can wake you up.

Thank you for commenting. Great that you are doing all these things. Keeping the room cool is something David Sinclair is recommending.

I have watched the behavior of the various domesticated animals which I have lived near throughout my long life (dogs, cats, horses, sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, ducks, etc.) Usually most of them find comfortable places to rest after eating, and many of them go to sleep. I have never been around other primates such as monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees, etc. so I know nothing about their feeding/sleeping habits. I was told by my mother and grandmother when I was a child that we humans feel sleepy after eating because our bodies’ energies are focused on digesting our food. Maybe because of what they told me, I usually feel drowsy after I eat. I usually sleep 8 hours (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.). I would be happy to hear your thoughts about all this. Thank you very much. 🙇🏼♀️

Thank you for sharing your observations about animals and their post-meal naps! It's definitely a common behavior across many species. While post-meal drowsiness might be natural, it can sometimes disrupt our nighttime sleep or cause blood sugar spikes. Here are a few tips: Take a short walk or do some light activity after lunch(I always do the washing up) to help with digestion and keep your energy up. If you do take a nap, keep it short (up to 30 minutes before 2 pm) to avoid disrupting your nighttime sleep, and do it after the light activity. Thanks again for your thoughtful comment!

Takamiya-san, thank you for your reply. I appreciate your suggestions as well as your generosity in sharing your own philosophy of how to live a balanced life. Like you, I have chosen to live a simplified life in a rural area where I can grow part of my own vegan diet. Thank, you again.
