When your skin barrier is damaged, less is more. "First do no harm". Now is not the time to experiment with new products, even if they are barrier repair products. When your skin is irritated, you need a bland routine. Your skin will do the rest, it knows what it has to do. The most important thing is to not irritate it further and it will already start the repair process. A cleanser like the Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser is fantastic, followed up by the LRP Cicaplast Baume B5+, and a 100% mineral sunscreen if you have to (avoid chemical or hydrid as these penetrate deeper than mineral) That's it. This is all you need to do. Skip the serums, skip the toners. However, if you have use a serum the Avene Tolerance Skin Intensive Recovery Serum is great as it's fragrance-free, simple and loaded with panthenol. Avoid anything with a long ingredient list. For the love of everything, DO NOT run out and buy an entire new skincare routine, no matter what influences say worked for their skin, or however gentle the product is. Follow a bland routine like this for a few weeks, better yet a month to ensure the barrier is fully healed.

I remember 2 years ago my skin got really damaged from microdermabrasion, it was pain beyond measure as in just touching my face was fore, so I could not have water run on it, or rub in cream. Had to pat stuff and that was uncomfortable. What I did was I stopped cleansing, only pat my face with water, then used a couple of layers of the SKIN1004 Centella ampoule, then caked my face in three layers of LRP cicaplast. After two weeks my skin returned to normal, but it was the most painful experience that made me never want to get a facial or microdermabrasion again. I did try vaseline slugging and using Aveeno Dermexa balm etc. but those were hard to wash off when my skin was already sensitive to any friction.

Thank you for this!! You’ve convinced me on the Make P:rem toner - it is so hard to find actual hydration without heaviness!! My go-to moisturizer with ceramides is Vanicream Daily Facial Moisture - it’s soooo good, and from the drugstore. I use the regular Vanicream at night and, while it doesn’t have ceramides, it has the most delightful, creamy texture my skin loves - I love using it!

Hi Kelly it’s such a personal journey healing skin barrier issues 😢. I had a horrible reaction when patch testing both lipid gold and the torriden essence 😢. My skin with both rosacea and eczema didn’t like something in the formula of both and that wasn’t even a flare day. I’m using the torriden up on my body and gave the lipid gold to my sister (she has eczema but it worked really well for her 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️). I do really like the Paula’s choice omega serum and moisturiser however- it works well for me. Illyoon cream isn’t rich enough for my extremely dry skin and instead I really recommend the clinical ultra rich cream from Paula’s choice for those who are extremely dry. Cereve has never worked on my skin causing irritation too btw. The cereve eczema cream is a drug store alternative I like much better and for something a little lighter the Aveeno eczema gel cream is a great option. Ti’am vita B5 toner really has worked well for a long time for my skin and is a really good well priced option for toner. Best wishes x

I'm almost done with my tube of Torriden's Ceramide Cream. I've loved it, but I might wanna try Cosrx's ceramide moisturiser next since I can get it for a bit cheaper. I love thick, creamy ceramide moisturisers, they work wonders for my dry skin 🤩

Great products Kelly! During the pandemic, my hands were literally cracked and bleeding due to the constant use of hand sanitizer at work. I incorporated cicaplast, urea and a lighter form of healing ointment (sold in Australia called Dermeze) on my hands religiously, every hour. Within a couple of days my hands were completely healed. I also love using cicalfate from Avene when my skin barrier has been compromised. Your channel is wonderful and I’m learning so much about my skin. It’s never looked better thanks to your advice and recommendations 😊

Thank you for making this Kelly! I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now and my skin has drastically changed for the better. I just finished a bottle of the lipid gold because I was convinced when I first heard you talk about it and I fell in love as well. I have eczema and it has been a lifesaver. Another great barrier support product I’ve tried is the Byoma barrier+ treatment! It’s the purpley/blue bottle and I use it as a moisturizer and it is so thick and rich and really feels deeply hydrating, especially on top of my toner and serums. I highly recommend it!

Last night, I had some stinging and sensitivity since I used my tret a night ago. I usually have to apply a very tiny amount otherwise I get peeling like I did this morning. I switched to a milk cleanser, and last night I used barrier support serum and soothing moisturizer and some vaseline, so my skin is feeling better than last night. I know you really try to hammer home the importance of barrier care, but I find as long as I use acne treatments, or rather my precriptions, I sometimes will get some irritation. 😅 Seems to be a real balancing act most of the time, and sometimes unavoidable. P.s. I have very acne prone skin that gets dehydrated easily, so soothing and barrier repair products are staples for me. ❤

Idk why but the PC Omega+ Complex Moisturizer burned 🔥 my skin so bad. So bad that I had to wash it off. But the Omega+ Complex Serum didn't. Sadly I won't repurchase the serum because the last bottle I got went bad within a couple of months after opening. I'm really enjoying Peach & Lilys Ultra Plush & Barrier Repair moisturizers and serums. I know their on the pricey side but I've gotten them anywhere from 20% 30% 50% off at Ulta. Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a favorite for me. I use it every night and will never go without. I always have backups of that. I didn't like Stratia Lipid Gold. I threw it away. The fishy smell didn't go away but it was the color that I couldn't get past. It really turned me yellow lol and I didn't want to deal with it getting all over my clothes and bedding. But I do like their Interface Moisturizer and Stratia has amazing customer service. They went up and beyond for me.

You could try the new Dr. Jart+ Ectoin- Infused cream? It says it's a cream but when you open the jar it's quite the think ointment. It contains glycerine, ectoin, shea butter, cholesterol and 5 ceramides among other ingredients . As I said it's quite the thick cream and you actually have to use the spatula they included to take it out but when you start to rub it between your handpalms it becomes into a nice consistency, it sinks well and my skin actually quite like it. I should advise you to read the ingredients list before buying it as it contains some essential oils, because it is not the cheapest of Korean creams.
