People saying only magicians will understand seem to suggest that there is another layer to this, eg. He is legitimately making each coin disappear but also making another coin appear so that people will assume its the same coin they see each time. If that's what he did, then yes, only magicians will understand if they are good enough to see.

For those who are struggling to understand… there are 2 coins in the box but he shows you one. The other is palmed in his left hand. The coin you see goes into his shirt. That second coin then gets switch with another under the table top. Then that third gets switched with a coin most likely stuck to his right wrist.

Then, he would drop it off the table. Then, he would slide it into the sleeve of his right arm. But each time, he doesn't. It's just a joke.
