@Please Stop look. The original comment is stating an opinion. That's fine. They have a right to their opinion. The opinion, in this context, does not need much explanation. They think Topol sung the best version. The reply, however, just says "no". Not, "I think this person is better" or "I don't exactly agree, I prefer this person", it's just "no", and comes off as troll like. Do you see my point now?

Topol may not have been the very first in the role, but he was the 2nd and forever set the template. His Tevye was world weary yet optimistic, a little mischievous and always willing to see the best in people, even if it takes him a little longer to get there. His Tevye also clearly loved his home and his people and you feel the utter sense of loss when they’re forced to leave. AND YET, in that final scene of the movie, he still has hope for a better tomorrow.

I do sing in a choir, and even though I'm not specially sure if my director likes Broadway performances, I intend to ask him if I can do this. I'm no bass like Topol but a light baritone, but I think I can pull this off. And yes, accent, moves and intonation are to be as close to this as humanly possible.

Dear God, you made many, many poor people. I realize, of course, that it's no shame to be poor. But it's no great honor either! So, what would have been so terrible if I had a small fortune?' If I were a rich man, Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. All day long I'd biddy biddy bum. If I were a wealthy man. I wouldn't have to work hard. Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. If I were a biddy biddy rich, Yidle-diddle-didle-didle man. I'd build a big tall house with rooms by the dozen, Right in the middle of the town. A fine tin roof with real wooden floors below. There would be one long staircase just going up, And one even longer coming down, And one more leading nowhere, just for show. I'd fill my yard with chicks and turkeys and geese and ducks For the town to see and hear. And each loud 'cheep' and 'swaqwk' and 'honk' and 'quack' Would land like a trumpet on the ear, As if to say 'Here lives a wealthy man.' If I were a rich man, Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. All day long I'd biddy biddy bum. If I were a wealthy man. I wouldn't have to work hard. Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. If I were a biddy biddy rich, Yidle-diddle-didle-didle man. I see my wife, my Golde, looking like a rich man's wife With a proper double-chin. Supervising meals to her heart's delight. I see her putting on airs and strutting like a peacock. Oy, what a happy mood she's in. Screaming at the servants, day and night. The most important men in town would come to fawn on me! They would ask me to advise them, Like a Solomon the Wise. 'If you please, Reb Tevye...' 'Pardon me, Reb Tevye...' Posing problems that would cross a rabbi's eyes! And it won't make one bit of difference if i answer right or wrong. When you're rich, they think you really know! If I were rich, I'd have the time that I lack To sit in the synagogue and pray. And maybe have a seat by the Eastern wall. And I'd discuss the holy books with the learned men, several hours every day. That would be the sweetest thing of all. If I were a rich man, Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. All day long I'd biddy biddy bum. If I were a wealthy man. I wouldn't have to work hard. Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. If I were a biddy biddy rich, Yidle-diddle-didle-didle man.

Tevye "Shows" a "Deep Bond With TRADITION" but Tradition did not Create him nor does it produce and Sacrifice for Sin. You can look up to HaShem when thinking, speaking or singing but that rases the Question "What" is the purpose of Tevye before HaShem in "The Fiddler On the Roof"? Obviously, it's to adhere to Tradition over the too often Clear Meaning of Tora. Does then, "Tradition" then supersede the Written Word and When and Where did that take place? Jews have forgotten to study the Whole Word Of God and replaced it with being Talmud Scholars. After all, it was Tora that Moses carried down Mt. Sinai on stone and not the Talmud. Proverbes 14:12- "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death." Your Messiah has come and the Jews fulfilled Isiah 53 (Word for Word). TIMELINE for Messiah: Daniel 9- "24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." One "Week" of years = 7 years. 69 "Weeks" of years = 483 years until "The Messiah get's Cut Off (I.e. killed/TIMING 33 BCE). You've seen enough. NOW as always "It's On YOU"!

Great movie about great people, BUT IS a Servent of HaShem supposed to be so enamored with bein "Rich"? Come on! THINK!
