I mean, if you think about it, the majority of One Piece enemies are pirates. Like; Buggy - Pirate Kuro - Pirate Don Krieg - Pirate Arlong - Pirate Crocodile - Pirate Moria - Pirate Hoady - Technically called himself a pirate Doflamingo - Pirate Big Mom - Pirate Kaido - Pirate The only groups Zoro fought against that were not pirates as far as I can remember were Morgan, Enel's people, CP9, and the people at Sabaody, although Kuma was a pirate(ish). Even when the bad guy was Cesar, Zoro fought Monet, who was a Doflamingo pirate. Zoro does plenty of pirate hunting.

In this timeline I think he and Ace would have made Peace with the Fact they’re Enemies And as Such they shouldn’t Be lenient with each other if they ever Either meet at the Sea or the other is in Danger. In regards to the end, there's actually some fanfics I read many years ago that explore a "what if" scenario of Luffy being a marine and what would happen as a result of Ace's execution being announced. One of them had a neat idea (though of course a lot more anticlimactic than Marine Ford) that Luffy goes to Whitebeard and makes a deal - he retrieves Ace, they don't go all out on the marine headquarters. He gets clearance to enter Impel down, and rearrange the orders of the ships - it's more complex then my summary but basically Ace is put on one ship instead of the other and there's all the miscommunication of "no WE have him," "NO, WE have him!" and basically Luffy pulls what he did originally at Impel down, getting Ivankov and Bentham's assistance - massive prison break - "hey guys wait a second Ace is not on the ship we're on wtf" - Whitebeard Pirates slip in and take advantage of the chaos and free Ace. And essentially onward from that moment Luffy and his crew become fugitives, 2 time skip - suddenly a new Pirate crew called the strawhats pop up in the New World, and y'all know the rest.

The crew would be a bit different, Coby would promise to join Luffy after he becomes stronger, Zoro wouldn't have trouble joining because it wouldn't interfere with his dream of becoming the Strongest Swordsman, Nami would be a bit reluctant to join due to Nezumi selling off her village but at the end she would join after seeing that Luffy's crew is how Marines are supposed to be. Ussop wanted to be a Brave Man of the Sea, his dream was not incompatible so he would join, the same going for Sanji. Smoker wouldn't chase after Luffy and remains at Roger's birth but suggests Tashigi to join Luffy's crew so she could get stronger. They still meet Laboon, Crocus and Vivi because Luffy wanted to see how pirates crossed the Red Line. The Alabasta Arc is almost the same with Luffy having less trouble to defeat Crocodile in their final battle, because in this reality they are Marines they are publicy lauded as heroes and get several promotions. Nico wouldn't join the crew, Luffy would let her escape after the Alabasta Arc, she probably be on her own again until the Revolutionaries find her. Luffy recognizes Blackbeard when they meet at the island below Skypea and they fight, it is a very hard battle but this Luffy was stronger than his canon self due to the training in Haki he got from Garp and wins, after Ace hears of that he returns with Whitebeard, during Luffy's recovery he is visited by Coby who joins his crew (Helmepo remains with Garp, wary of Zoro) In this reality they dont have the Sunny but a Marine ship, they don't travel to Water 7, without Robin around Luci and his group don't receive orders to act yet and remain as sleeping agents at Galey La Company. Luffy gets order to investigage Moriah, they meet Brook, Luffy offers him to join but he refuses because he is a pirate, after the Thriller Back arc ends Brooks agrees to join, Brook's bounty was already lapsed. Because they are not pirates they don't get Wanted posters, Duval is not hunted for resembling Sanji's portrait, he doesn't kidnap Hachi, Camie doesn't meet the crew and the Straw Hats don't have to free her. In the Sabaody Archpielago the imbecile Celestial Dragon still gets punched, in this case by Kidd. The Straw Hats come with Kizaru and everything goes relatively fine until they accidentally cross paths with Rayleigh who completely trashes them and takes away Luffy's hat after recognizing it, motivating Luffy to get stronger.

Remember that ace only got captured because he fought Blackbeard and lost, there would be no reason for ace to even fight BB if luffy encounters him first at Jaya and defeats him due to luffy being a marine receiving haki training from Garp. Ace would have no reason to ever leave whitebeard, the marineford war never happens

In this timeline i could see Shanks still coming to luffy’s village hanging out, luffy eating the fruit and inspiring luffy to be a pirate but this time however when the bandits came and kidnapped luffy Shanks was to late to save him and just as luffy was about to be eaten it was Garp that saved him instead sacrificing his arm and in turn precious fist to save his grandson as Luffy was thankful for his grandfather he joined the marines while still holding respect for shanks as shanks gives him the hat telling him to give it back when he becomes a great marine but luffy still being luffy i see him not taking orders from his superiors doing everything his own way and still getting promoted none the less

So this is basically one piece but Luffy becomes an Internal Affairs officer (IA) Oddly enough this would make his fight with Rob Lucci have even more depth. Because it would be two different factions of enforcers. One hunts corruption on private orders. The other is more public and upfront.

If Luffy were part of the Marines, the Gorosei would likely contact him and Garp to discuss Luffy's fruit, and with that, Luffy would come to know the name of Nika, and the fruit would be in the hands of the World Government. Luffy would undergo the most rigorous Marine training, acquire advanced Armament Haki and advanced Observation Haki. However, upon learning Imu-sama's plans for the rest of the world, he would join SWORD or the Revolutionary group, aiming to attain the title of "King of the Marines" or something similar. This would lead him to acquire Conqueror's Haki, which Garp would train him to use. Luffy would reunite with all his companions, this time as a Marine commander. Instead of the race for the One Piece, it would be a race toward a new dawn.

Now that Zoro joined, next Nami could have also joined as she would get a fat pay check, already hated pirates, her mom was in the navy and she can legally take their treasures. Sanji could also join as there is a huge amount of navy men that want to eat and there is Luffy who has a massive appetite. Next Ussop all he needs is some motivation and appreciation towards his snipper skills and how in the future he can have a huge fleet with many men. As for Chopper, Robin, Franky and Jimbei I doubt they will join, Chopper and Jimbei could be subject to discrimination due to their appearance, Robin is already being hunted by the govt and navy and she hates them so I don't see her joining either Franky absolutely hates the navy and govt for what happened to Tom san.

To commerate the most recent chapter I guess (jokes, I highly doubt this animation was made that quickly, even if iBIJ read the spoilers) After Crocodile, I immediately thought of Marine Ford. Two possibilities: 1. Luffy fights on the side of the Whitebeard Pirates but still keeps his job similar to Koby and Boa 2. Luffy sides with Garp and the both of them sit next to Ace on the scaffold. And after Akainu kills Ace, Sengoku holds down Garp while Luffy jumps Akainu and eventually Luffy and Koby stall out Akainu enough for Shanks to show up Honestly, option 1 is more likely, but option 2 would be a really nice parallel universe where Luffy has as much loyalty to the navy cause as he does for the pirate life in the canon
