Genetics can come into play. Like on my dads side we naturally have a higher fasting glucose which can lead to type 2 diabetes. Some things are out of your control. There's only so much lack of carbs one can do especially if you have other issues like Autoimmune Disease. Speaking of which. Hashimoto's Thyroiditis often times leads to Type 2 diabetes because the thyroid disease makes your blood glucose and cholesterol higher. So it's NOT just what you eat at all. Far more complex than that.

Hi Tom. After following you for a few years I’ve now fully committed to intermittent fasting and the results are already enough to keep me committed. I’m doing 16:8 for the time being, 5 days per week. I’m already a very active person and enjoy my athletic lifestyle - but my performance has gone through the roof since IF. Coincidence? Maybe. But I don’t think it is. I hit my first sub-20 minute 5K (fasted), my strength has increased, my muscle has increased. My workouts feel more intense (fasted). I’m all in. Thanks for the amazing content you continue to produce. Cheers from England!

Fasting/delayed eating for me has been the best method for discipline and me managing and remaining at my desired weight. Even when I add/remove or go low carb. Daily fasting keeps me on schedule and my cravings or food desires in check. I have a time to eat and a time not to eat and this consistency keeps me well balanced.

What's most interesting about this video is that it lends precisely a sense of perspective on how any one persons diet and/or approach can be so effectively different within the realm of a relatively comparable nutrition plan. When foods become inadvertently absent from your routine (in my case this past week it's been avocado - "ripen at home" haven't..) the absence can point to a significant lack of certain nutrients - I'm guessing this has left me lower on potassium than I would otherwise be.. It's more of a helpful video to keep you mindful of how variations can knock you off in certain ways, so thanks man!

You are an excellent example of where I want to be, as a woman, of course. I hated eating meat, and I got away with it for many years. However, not eating meat has gotten me into trouble, and now I have to eat it. Moreover, my mother and my doctors strongly recommended we drink a glass of wine with dinner. Neither of us had ever drank wine or any other alcoholic beverages for that matter. When I tried it, I thought I was going to regurgitate it! I can eat as many carbs as I want midday/early afternoon without bloating or fatigue if I take 1/2 tsp of ceylon cinnamon. Low carb, high protein and fat in the evenings. Berries all day. But now I do what he says to do… “listen” to your body. So those morning I get up and feel hungry I give a little something or I eat my OMAD and flip my day. It’s working well for me and my total gym and body weight calisthenics have also truly taken it to another level. I’ve busted past that 20+ lb weight lose and I’m losing more again while getting lean and more defined. Soon I’m guessing the weight will plateau again and I may gain weight due to muscle mass. Hello Thomas, I enjoyed watching your video and I agree that meat is essential for us humans, the amino acid and mineral profile in plants is lacking compared to meat and eggs, by the way we as humans lack the enzyme cellulase to break down cellulose (plant fiber). I also was plant based for awhile but did supplement with collagen types 1-5 coming from good sources. I too only eat maybe one full on meal a day usually via intermittent fasting but I am trying to break that cycle( depends on what I ate) . I begin my morning with a fasted workout. My question for you is does include a protein shake? Or even a low calorie "protein shake" consisting of unsweetened almond milk and collagen protein. ( Hey maybe I should start doing that again!)

No one needs to eat 4 meals a day, especially if your someone who is in good shape and metabolically healthy, you need 2 large meals or 3 max, spaced out and making sure each meal is high in protein with good animal fats. If you eat two large, high protein meals per day with a concentration on a large portion of high quality animal protein (meat) with some additional fats and carbs, you should naturally feel satiated and not need two more meals, we were meant to eat larger, calorie dense meals and then spend the rest of our time during the day and night not eating but instead today too many people are eating small micro meals, and on the go and snacking piece meal throughout the day which doesn't give the body enough time to digest and feel satiated the same way a larger, more filling meal does.
@Locke19901 Жыл бұрын

I experience the same thing with Carbs, Thomas. I cannot keep eating meal after meal with lots of slow carbs because I get bloated after a few days almost like I feel sick. This despite walking around with great sugar level generally (usually around 5.2 , sometimes as low as 3.6) thanks to IMF and loose LCHF. The IMF has rapidly improved my insulin sensitivity I guess (2 months) BUT I really never get totally fat adapted. I try to eat high protein low carb but if I push it too far (such as eating mainly chicken and cheeze for 3 days) my glycogen storage slowly depletes. Last time this happened I was at 3.6 blood sugar and then I do a huge carb refill in one swoop. This occurs maybe one a week. I am talking like 600 gram of candy plus 150 gram of cookies just to quickly get my carb storage back. I meisured my blood sugar after thus sugar intake a while after and I just reached around 5.5 which is still a low value if you have eaten something. Big note of course is I do some very intense workouts every other day that makes the muscle easily soaking up every gram of sugar once I get depleted. After refill I go back to imf, low carb again.

Berberine has been shown to be as effective as Metformin for Diabetics. ALA is very powerful for insulin sensitivity as well. Cinnamon is an insulin mimetic with nearly the same structure as insulin and the body uses it in the same way and has been shown to reduce insulin release by 10x normal. Has definitely helped with weight loss as it really accelerated once I added these in. Currently down 40 lbs since mid January, 12 lbs in the last month.

Thank you for reminding people that what works for one person may not work for another; it kind of contradicted that when you advised other people that are active that they may need more meet though. Anecdotally, as an active person, meat doesn't work at all (ethical issues aside) I feel like crap when I've eaten animal products, my insulin is all messed-up, gut issues, brain fog, sleep issues, period pains & fibroid issues - with even the smallest morsel of chicken. I don't miss it one bit. It causes me so much cognitive dissonance to hear someone I respect & admire shilling meat products, and justifying what is essentially a recreational product. You have done so much excellent research, it cannot have escaped your notice that there's meta data on things such as the carcinogens that are naturally cooked into chicken, the addictive qualities in dairy products, or that actually fish and chicken have the least protein of any meat so are not the ideal go-to for protein, especially if you're active (they're just palatable and familiar). There are many reasons people have to justify eating animal products, but the gig is almost up with 'health' being one of them. I'd respect it much more if people could just admit that it's mainly for pleasure & convenience.

I just got a CGM and see these spikes to 150 sometimes 180 (only last 5-10 min) that make me nervous and may indicate some nagging insulin resistance. What is probably the clearest fat burner is eating at 6 pm. Walking 30-60 min before bed at around 9 pm. My blood sugar rises after dinner, but goes down in the 80s after an evening walk. I have a full supply of my own high omega 3 fish in spanish mackeral. This is quickly becoming my only animal protein in the diet. I've had it almost every day for 5 weeks.

I've been on BBB&E for about 11 weeks. Some mornings I'm just not hungry! I cheat by slipping over to Keto - you the Keto cinnamon rolls and my keto waffle once a week! Now my favorite breakfast is a 1/2 lb. of bacon. Scramble in 4 eggs and then 3 slices of Trader Joe's extra sharp Wisconsin Cheddar!

What is your blood glucose level when on keto and what is it at when you eat 150g carbs a day?

Here's my take on this. If you are training like a madman (working out manual labour or just very active which is a must) but I'm talking 5hour+ movement. It doesn't matter how many meas you eat. You will litterly burn calories faster than eating them and that's not including as well TDEE and being active daily. That's the cheat code in my books.

Thomas I'm trying to keep fat as low as possible on keto to cut calories ( have some stubborn fat to lose) but I want to have healthy hormones! Which few fats should I prioritize!?

Msg is not a problem, but everyone is different 🖤

Thanks for mentioning MSG. This also doesn't work for me, I even get migraine from that. Whenever I hear "MSG does not do any harm" on so many YT channels, there are comments that report that MSG causes migraines. However in YT channels that focus on issues with insulin resistance, they all say that MSG is harmful. Also, looking at you now, comparing to your pix ~10 years ago, you seem to look younger now.

As for me, yeah, those 3-6 meals per day gave my all kind of problems and hunger, low energy, etc.., however, for me fasting everyday works and still works great, the only thing that makes me gain fat is a surplus of calories, no matter from where they come, and thankfully, I have decent tolerance to carbs, but if I eat more than 300 carbs you could say, that's when I feel bad, just as If I eat too few carbs (below 100), and yeah, nothing beats fasted cardio or workout, I perform so much better, but not only for workouts, I just have like unlimited energy for everything during the day, that's why I do Night IF, because I feel great and can work either mentally or physically without taking breaks, thanks to I trained my body all these years to utilize fat at its maximum to give mental and body energy. Best

There are plenty of studies showing seed oils are inflammatory, toxic, and cause accelerated weight gain. Not only that but a plants strongest defense mechanisms are typically found in their seeds.

Hi Thomas, I am relatively lean and active person with no critical illness. But I have sleep problem and lack of energy when I want to push myself from my comfort zone (exercise wise). I am on Keto for the last 10 days and I feel good about it. How long should I do it or do I have to do it forever?

On the seed oil topic. Corn oil isn't necessarily a seed oil but occasionally I will go out to eat for a business luncheon. If it is a Mexican restaurant I will usually get a Fajita. They must cook the vegetables in Corn oil because my mouth gets dry afterwards and I feel like I was eating chips.

I like doing legs in the morning on an empty stomach. For Other body parts, I prefer having a few meals in me and lifting in the afternoon. But never on a full stomach right after eating. Need to wait at least a few hours after the last meal. Cardio always best fasted, first thing in the morning.
