it's just because it's so common and easy to play and fairly strong. if you enjoy it, play it. maybe just experiment with different ideas in it because you can play it aggressive or positional and it's a great beginner opening framework to get comfortable with different ideas while giving you room for inaccuracies.

Thank you for putting how I feel about the London into words, and video. I get that perfectly great players can and do use the London, but too many seem to play it from day one. Once the game deviants from what ever they expect, the have no tactical awareness or even just counting, like the game you showed with the Rook for 2 minors. I guess that's true of anyone, but it's really annoying with the London because it lets people fake their way into a middle game they have no business being in. I say that someone who played the Queen's Gambit Declined Exchange Variation, which was the London of the 80s. At least we put a bishop as far away as g5 though.

you don't say, I got into the triangle slav for quite a bit late last year ,and yeah the QGD exchange was really annoying, had to go back to playing the kings indian. You are right though, it still does not compare with the london, especially if it's in the hands of a somewhat stronger 2000ish player, they won't blunder any pieces, it's just gonna be a long bland game.
