Well, actually Edge Lord, Pokémon DO just faint when they lose a battle, and even then they're just being overdramatic cuz they're still alive and conscious, as shown in the Let's Go games, when you take a fainted Mon out of its ball, it still follows you even tho it's supposed to be fainted, so I guess that when they "faint", they're just tired.
