@nextlifeonearth5 жыл бұрын
That's not quite fair (albeit wise. You're better off without soda). Like alcohol is flammable, and you likely still drink it on your days off. Vinegar and citric acid are also corrosive, but they're often in what's considered healthy foods (the latter itself even being considered healthy by itself) A lot of foods have stuff you wouldn't want to eat by themselves in it, but it's completely safe. Safe and healthy however isn't the same thing, so still staying away from soda is a good habit. Sugar is likely the least healthy thing (in its quantity) we consume these days.

When I was a kid a pepsi truck loaded with full of pepsi crashed on a mountain road in Pennsylvania near my home. The cola spilled out all over the road and into a mountain stream next to the road. The acidic pH of the pop killed tons of fish and any other substance with the same pH would have legally been considered a hazardous waste spill and required hazmat teams to clean up the soil and surrounding grounds. Because it was pepsi (just as easily could have been coke) it was not considered an environmental disaster and life continued as normal.

When tobacco industries quit they made themselves into food and beverage industries, and tobacco does lead to sugar cravings, so maybe they liked super sweet. I personally think some processed food is a bit too sweet and not as truly flavorful as it could be.

Sugar doesn't cause diabetes, being over weight does. Of course, drinking too much soda certainly helps you to be over weight.... As long as you aren't over weight, you probably are not going to get diabetes from soda. It's bad for your teeth, and also the cancer claims. The more you know....
@archentity4 жыл бұрын
@@user-nh3gu1ge3d True, but most Americans at least aren't blessed with fast metabolisms. So sodas usually always make you overweight and increase your risk of diabetes, which is what happened to me.
@user-nh3gu1ge3d4 жыл бұрын
@@archentity Yeah I guess. My point was mainly that your weight is the sum result of what you consume minus what you burn off. Of course soda will increase your weight (versus drinking water, all other things being equal) but so will any empty calories, potato chips, cheese, bread, etc etc. It's just not a fair statement to blame it all on soda when that person probably eats fast food, too much fatty dairy, etc. etc. But again, that's not me saying soda is good for you, it's not, just that it gets more demonized when other things are just as bad or worse (beer/alcohol, anyone?). Consider that a typical beer (not light beer) has about the same amount of calories as a soda (150ish).

Raymond Gonzales it's about changing perspective. Don't focus on how you enjoy the drink next time you have it, focus on why. Ask yourself why drinking spoonfuls of sugar is enjoyable, and you'll see it's just cause of instinct and also cause you don't notice the sugar. So any time you look at a drink, just imagine a heap of sugar in that cup or bottle, cause that's what it is. Turned me off pretty quick, and also I always find water enjoyable myself. You can use juice together there as well, particularly Apple, but try to get the stuff without sugar added - read labels

hsvkidusa Sprite and 7Up are basically the same thing. There only saving grace, if you want to call it that, is they have slightly less sugar and lack caramel color. They both, like most sodas, contain high levels of preservatives. The majority of what you’re paying for is packaging and shipping cost for “CARBONATED WATER”. You can buy a Soda Stream that makes carbonated water and add your own lemon/lime and sugar but your just giving your money back to the soda company. Soda Stream is owned by Pepsi. Buy some mineral water if you want bubbles, because that’s why we drink soda, squeeze some fresh juice in it and be done.

I love "Honest Ads". The actor playing "Roger" is really great at portraying a corporate sleaze. Thanks for these and keep 'em coming!
