Those robots do not operate by will or intelligence unlike S.A.R they are programmed. And they are programmed to receive a command via code from the satellite or in other case S.A.R's antenna. Therefore it is theft of human property.

The subtitles got Opportunity and Curiosity names mixed up Also that was already SAR's ship but I guess it was technically ROTSAR ship so it's like unauthorized use of company vehicles since his job was to save and help Astrodude but he decided to have side missions of collecting the robots
